Having played Blaster Master for NES, this is definitely recommended. Difficulty is definitely a huge improvement over the NES version.
The UI has some flaws though; the music keeps playing when the game is off-focus (in background) or "paused" and the game doesn't pauses when some other window takes over. Also, the game crashed about 7 times during two story runs, but I hope that'll be addressed soon.
