A good sequel to the first game, I enjoyed the new movement and exploration mechanics, even though they came with their own challenges and bugs. Once you've played the first game, you just need to find out what happens with Loath Nolder and Howard Loreid.

A lot more voice acting plus some strong plot points and twists make for a very decent game and great story!

I fully understand how this game might sound appealing, it did to me as well! The only issue is that it feels extremely rushed, which is understandable coming from an indie studio, but it just doesn't hit the spot in this case.

It feels this game was based off of both 'The Thing' and 'Beneath the mountains of madness', which are both amazing pieces of media to pull inspiration from and the buildup was done quite well! The ending however left me not caring about anyone in the game or the actual outcome of the game :(

Definitely give it a go, but don't expect to be blown away!

Like many reviewers before me have told you, this game is a tasteful and interesting adaptation of Lovecraft's work. It borrows directly from the Mythos but subsequently takes liberties for the sake of creating a robust and well-rounded story. I am currently in the midst of playing Darkness Within 2 and that experience wouldn't be the same without playing this one.

Over time, Mask of the Rose has turned into a great mystery based sim, worthy of the universe it is set in. As someone who played a ton of Fallen London and Sunless Sea, I love seeing and being part of the way London progressed after the fall.
It worries me some that it seems the game is focused on repeatability, a great thing in my eyes, but also revolve solely around Archie's trial and David's murder. That seems very repetitive?
All in all a great time, the story creation aspect seems slightly forgiving at times, which is greatly appreciated!

Early Access Review
Is it D:OS in a Baldur's Gate setting?
Yes.
Do we mind?
Not even remotely.
10/10

Edit after realease:
The above review doesn't cover the sheer greatness that this latest addition to the amazing Baldur's Gate saga is. Especially now that it has been released, my opinion of it has only improved. Not a crazy opinion, I know, but still very very true.
