The only acceptable situation for a Steam game to require a third party login is if they're hosting it themselves. PSN is for the Playstation family of consoles. I would have bought this on my PS5 if I wanted to. I did not.

There have been at least 7 data breaches on PSN this past decade and there are dozens of countries that PSN does not service or that have banned it outright.

If this goes through, the playerbase of this game, which is apparently required to be active for certain story beats, will dwindle below their current projections, hurting the story in the process. This is a unique issue with this game in particular, since most games don't do something this silly with player engagement, or they fake it beyond a shadow of a doubt.

There were a lot of things in real life getting in the way of me finally sitting down and passing the 2 hour mark with this game. I'm disappointed that it's not going in a good direction, and I can't support any business practice that actively makes it less secure for me to associate with a product. A product that needs to be used by hundreds of thousands of people to move its plot along willfully cutting off its playerbase on top of that confuses and disappoints me further.

Capcom has recently begun a campaign of adding a certain DRM to their older games, whether singleplayer or multiplayer, in order to curb mod use. There's no doubt in my mind that this will either be overturned or cracked, but this particular software is served by a company with no name or address, with the only clue being that their domain was bought in Moscow. Half of all trusted security companies flag the new DRM as a virus, and you have no recourse if something happens. I'm going to leave this review here until someone personally provides proof that this decision by Capcom is publicly apologized for and walked back, because even if they did want to be hard on mods, they ought to know their vendors. I'm uninstalling this game before the malware reaches my computer.

This game will make a permanent strike on your Steam account for not playing it. I don't know any other game that has a response for apostacy, so play literally anything else.

Around 6 maps split between two playlists. Playlists have zero organization - it's a hoshposh of every playable gamemode and the only choice is whether you play with a team of 4 or 12. The presence of the BP ruins the "if nobody's trying, it's not fun" objective the original Halo has, and reduces almost every lobby to a point boosting session. Multiplayer/community grade is an F

Skinner box battle pass that ends every weekly segment with something along the lines of "Win 17 matches." Entire premise based around fear of missing out. No other meaningful objective. Progression grade is an F

The cosmetics not locked behind a $10 battle pass unlock are all available for a minimum of $5 worth of vbucks. The total market cap of the store is over $1000 per customer. Alarmingly, color choices for your armor can go as high as $15 apiece despite being literal palette swaps. There's been way too much work put into this section compared to the rest of the game. Cosmetics grade is a black hole draining the grade of every other part of the game.

Campaign is a $60 DLC. I fully expect it to have the handcrafted quality of four (4) coats of paint on a hat. Until conditions improve elsewhere, it's not even an F - it's a "no."

0/10 - Had to give it a fair shake as the last vestige of a good franchise - turns out vestigial was more apt.

every single aspect of this game is horrible grind, and updates meant to alleviate some grind have only added more obtuse grind as a result. if you actually desire an end point where you can comfortably say you're good at a game, you won't like this one.

Do not play this game if you use a Dualshock 4 controller and DS4Windows.

For completely unknown reasons, it ONLY accepts input from the touch pad, even when Hide DS4 Controller is selected.

If you try to remedy this in any way through the program, for whatever reason, it stops DS4Windows from recognizing any controllers as its own. Seemingly until you restart or reinstall the drivers.

The game itself doesn't have enough content to justify grappling with this or even mentioning gameplay in this review. I first encountered this problem one or two days after I started it at the release version, thought it was just being weird, and left it for later. Now, since it's had a major update, it has not managed to tackle the seemingly important bug of "your game breaks a controller that half of console owners use" after months of being playable.

It's a roguelike with exactly as much depth as Pixel Dungeon and it looks pretty. Now if only it could work.

I was part of the preorder crowd, so it brought a tear to my eye when the beta finally came out a full year after its deadline.
Then the tears kept coming because it was terrible.
They haven't stopped.

Wait, why is this in my queue? I'm already almost at the end of my first playthrough.

Early Access Review
This game would be a generic zombie game with a cutesy graphic style if it weren't so averse to being played. Half of all the times I unpause, it disconnects me as if that were the normal thing to do. On an average PC, turning shading on at all, which would be required to look at the inside of a building as more than one uniform color, even during the day, would drop the framerate to around 15 before other settings are changed. Obviously, depth perception is important in a combat/survival game, so you'll be happy to know that there's one range for all melee weapons, regardless of how long the weapon actually appears to be.
