I got so immersed in this game that after I had sex with my fictional girlfriend I had to close the game and stare at myself in the mirror for 15 minutes.

Pulsar is a game that can't really be described without sounding like a child describing a movie to his friends on the playground. The game is incredibly simple with it’s design but is completely hands off in how you play. There might be a linear story to this game? But each time I play it I find myself experiencing an entirely different narrative feel from my last play through.
This game is best played with a group of people without any knowledge of the game. The game feels a bit like a dnd campaign when playing as it doesn’t have any set “mechanics” but possible actions are still grounded within the mechanics of its world. This creates interesting moments of problem solving as you often find yourself turning to your imagination before attempting a google search.

Pulsar has you taking the role of a crew member on a spaceship with a specific role assigned by occupation, alliance, or ship type. I’ve seen this game compared to Sea of Thieves a lot in other reviews and while there is definitely a comparison to be made I find that sea of thieves communicates its solutions a lot more clearly making it feel more game-y. For example in Sea of Thieves when your ship takes damage you use the boards in the clearly marked board barrel to repair it, while in Pulsar when something is wrong with your ship you’re just thrown into the deep end and have to figure it out. For example once while playing with some friends we found that our jump drive was taking way longer to complete jumps than normal. We assumed we had damaged it since we had just gotten out of one of the races along with thought all the boosters we added to the ship for the race were sucking the power away from the drive. We tried relegating more power to it to compensate, which did end up shaving some time off the jump but that still didn’t fix it. We made our way to a depo and repaired the ship and removed the boosters and thought we had fixed it but it was still taking 5 minutes for jumps to be completed. I tried googling our problem to see if it was a bug or a glitch but we still couldn’t find a solution, but after a bit of tinkering in our ships power rooms we found we had just accidently capped the jump drives power. Now for some this would be ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game design, but to us this was the best moment of the night. Not only did we find out we could regulate more power to different parts of the ship but we essentially figured out how to overclock our jump drive to get to places even quicker. This kind of brute force conveyance permeates through out the entire game and makes the moments of frustration and uncertainty the best parts.

When this game is good it’s good but when it sucks? It’s even better.

I love this game so much that it seems neurotic. Something about a game that puts its heart on its sleeve makes all it's small imperfection's seem so human and personal. I think more game's should end with the creator's email maybe.

Unpacking is a short and simple experience that ((packs)) a heartfelt narrative with every item out of the box. Like everyone has said, it’s amazing the attention to detail they put into the sound design. The adaptive plinks and plonks to each surface really help foster the character of the game, taking the roots of its simple sorting puzzle game mechanics and tangling them into the story. The objects you are placing don’t feel like puzzle pieces but parts of the characters life–They hold weight and are characters within themselves, making you want to find places for everything not just to complete the level but because you sympathize with wanting the things you hold dear to be on display.
One gripe I do have is the game’s soundtrack. It felt that sometimes the music would be seemingly looping randomly and abruptly cutting to a new motif which really made it feel like a shotty DJ with like 4 mp3 files was given too much power in the music department. I’d recommend playing with your own music, or just turning it off if you really want a good immersive experience.

Milk inside a bag of milk inside a bag of milk is a dollar, so explaining why the presentation came off as spurious and narrative left a lot to be desired, is a waste of time.

An aimless game that attempted to deliver an intriguing experience but trips on its tail and comes off shallow and superficial.
Kona starts with a lot of potential but slowly nose dives as the open world is stuffed into a linear investigation that throws out show don't tell and outright gives you the solution to the mysteries only to accumulate in the writers wiggling their fingers and shouting boo to avoid creating a conclusive ending.
The gameplay is completely arbitrary in quality. Maintaining your heat stress and health becomes a lot less scary when you realize the abundant inventory space allows you to carry most of the items needed for survival through out the game, making lowered conditions more of an inventory check than an actual challenge.

TL:DR promising game with terrible execution.

Beyond Crimson Stars is a mess!
The game has no save system, no menu, and boots up as a VR game when it is not even listed as VR supported. It feels like it's still in beta, yet I consider it one of my favorite games of all time as this game's artistic prowess almost makes its technical failures feel designed.
The story is told through 4 different colored vignettes, each exploring a different view of the narrator’s relationship with their late father. Given that these vignettes can be played in any order, the game can at times seem contrived and just edgy for the sake of shock or reaction. Yet in the end, the daisy chain of emotions seems to slowly mold itself into this thought-provoking view of the nature of art and death.
And the game isn’t just narratively good, it's also visually good. The surrealist landscapes and wild set pieces layered with grainy pixelated filter just fills this game with the warmth and nostalgia of being a child falling asleep to the sound of the tv. The aesthetics of this game perfectly encapsulates the sentimentality of a favorite dream that is truly worth its low price entry alone.

A simple game with a short but addictive game-play loop that always manages to keep me on edge. A great time waster and perfect combination of the older and contemporary elements of shooters.

This game ♥♥♥♥♥ rules!!!!!

Nier automata has some of the most profound and somber story telling I have seen in a game. It manages to convey themes of death, nihilism and human connection in a way that makes me feel genuine sadness and guilt but through characters designed to make you look like a giant loser the more you care and empathize for them.
There is alot of praise I could give to the soundtrack alone; Keiichi Okabe has created an enchantingly haunting feeling to both the pleasant and bleaker environments that really help to emphasize both the decay and rebirth present within automata’s world.

Combat is adaptive and moldable; relying on the player to shape their chip sets and arsenal to fit their play style. I liked this as I could switch between playing with increased speed and dodge with the ability to carry combos through dodges when I wanted to have fun, and back to increased health, defense and pod damage when my wife's boyfriend was home. Automata also features two different shoot em up styled “mini games”, that while helping to create a good amount of variation in its game play, stagnate the game heavily due to their repetition and lack of unique designs.
