To this date still one of the best shooter games I've ever played. The story isn't too complex, but portrayed in a very unique and compelling manner. An absolute 'must play'-classic.

Expected a simple and fun platformer, but got so much more! The game is very well put together and thought out, and the story genuinely had me shed a tear which I didn't expect would fall beforehand.

The gameplay is simple but fun, as the trailer would have you expect. The story and the depicted world give the game a beautiful feel and pull you right in.

Truly a 10/10 game in my humble opinion.

As someone who has seen this game evolve from its 'RPG combat' prototype form to that game that it is now, I can confirm it has since come a long way. It's become its own game by now, with all kinds of neat features and gimmicks. It's a nice homeage to classic JRPG combat within a more western style roguelike RPG.

You start out with next to nothing in an unkown realm, and you'll have to fight your way to the exit. You'll have to find blessings and fight monsters to grow in power and up your stats in order to survive the quickly growing power of the enemies. Every area is guarded by some form of boss monster which you'll have to get through, but to get to him you'll have to fight your way through monsters and mini bosses. For those confident in their platforming skills there's also hidden areas where loot and powerups can be found through jumping puzzles. However, die once, inside or outside of combat, and you'll have to start over.

The difficulty really ramps up quickly throughout the areas, as such I haven't been able to 'complete' the game as of yet. And not for lack of trying either, as I've easily played over a hundred runs already. However even with all of those runs I still enjoy playing it, trying to beat my hiscore.

All in all it's a very worthwhile game to pick up in my opinion, especially for its low price. And even though there's still some rough edges scattered about, there is still a lot to come, and over time most of those rough edges will be smoothed out.

If you're interested in following the development progress, or just want to check the hiscores or chat with some other players, there's an official BONM Discord server you can join.
Hope to see you there! :))

I personally don't see a lot of difference between this version and the original, but there's quite a few 'quality of life' implementations which they take from their own sequel. Overall a great game, but nothing really too special. If you loved Borderlands 2, don't expect the same game experience as for most people it'll be quite a downgrade from there. However if you loved the story, its universe and just want more of the same franchise, go give it a whirl. It'll bring you back to the roots of the franchise, experience how it all started and play the game as a few of the biggest NPCs that you got to know in part 2.

I'm at loss for words over this game...

Got it from the Humble Monthly bundle, thought I'd give it a try. And try I did, man, I did not see this one coming.

The first episode just got me somewhat into the game, still feeling like a child learning the ropes. After finishing it, minutes felt like they've had passed, but instead they already were hours. The episode after that gave even more momentum and totally sucked me in. And before I knew it more hours had passed.
Not soon after those first several hours, the feel train passed by, as engulfed I was already in this world. Everything felt so real and so strangely relatable. Decisions started to feel more impactful by the moment. And it didn't stop there. Can't really call it a plot twist but the closer the end was getting in sight, the more the rollercoaster that this game is took of for real.
I just couldn't get myself to wanting to know more. Eventually I just binged it, spending about 17 hours on this first playthrough, but it was so darn well worth it.

Sure this game isn't in the highest grade of graphical quality, and some of the controls feel a bit counterintuitive at first (at least they did for me), but hell is this a real gem. The artstyle does the game so much justice. As does the music. The story. Everything really, it was just so beautifully timed together, near perfection. Heck, this game even got me to actually shed some tears at some points, and that's something only very few games have managed before.

All in all I recommend this game to everyone who loves a good story, who loves immersion, and who can appreciate a good game. One that isn't so much about fun/cool/innovating gameplay, but one that is simply a true piece of art.

Incredible game! I've always loved these kind of (impossibly) hard reflex kind of games. This game pretty much nailed it, it's very fun and incredibly hard! Also, the controls are real smooth which makes it relatively 'easy' to play. The only point of attention are the glitches, for some reason the game spaces out every now and then causing you to randomly die, which is extremely frustrating in these kind of games in which there are no real checkpoints.

Pros:
- It's (Impossibly) Hard
- Makes you want to retry and win
- Smooth controls
- Simple but fitting graphics
- It's a lot of fun
- It has hours of gameplay for the achiev hunters
- Has a Level Editor
- Has a Practice Mode
- Cheap (let's not forget that one :P)

Cons:
- Only 5 levels (Level Editor slightly makes up for this though)
- Glitchy from time to time

Overall I'd really recommend this game as it's generally just a lot of fun. For me personally the few cons (though fairly large ones) don't weigh against the pros.

I rate this game 4/5. I'd really LOVE to give this game a 5/5, but the glitches are just too common for that, unfortunately.
