"Very Positive." Sure. For whom? Not the SWAT 4 fans.
Let me be direct: this DLC is not bad because it's hard. It's bad because it's hard for all the wrong reasons, and VOID Interactive has once again shipped a product that reveals how deeply they misunderstand their own playerbase.

The fantasy doesn't match the setting. You're a SWAT team. Five officers. Trained, coordinated, elite. In a previous DLC, the oil rig level threw you into a killbox swarming with paramilitaries like you accidentally loaded a Call of Duty map. There is no operational logic here. No attempt at plausibility. Just enemies stacked like a Costco warehouse with guns. And now ? Here we go again.

The AI promises are a cruel joke. VOID loves to talk about their sophisticated NPC behavior: morale systems, suppression mechanics, fear responses. In practice? Everyone, from hostage to hardened mercenary, acts with the calm precision of a Navy SEAL who skipped the part of training where he learns to feel fear. Suspects don't break. They don't hesitate. They peek perfectly and shoot faster than your brain processes the creak of a door. The only character in this game who's ever convincingly afraid is you ... and that's despite the design, not because of it.

Every map is a fever dream. A normal city. A normal call. A domestic disturbance that doesn't escalate into a 40-man firefight. VOID has never made this map and clearly never will. Instead, every mission is an architect's sadistic puzzle : corridors that funnel you into crossfire, openings everywhere, sightlines designed by someone who hates the concept of cover. It's not tactical. It's a trap generator wearing a tactical outfit.

Here's the truth this playerbase doesn't want to admit: Ready or Not is not a police sim. It never was. It's not Rainbow Six either : that's a casual shooter now, sure, but at least it knows what it is. RoN exists in its own niche genre: the Siege Horror game. The appeal is pure asymmetric dread. You are outnumbered, outgunned, threading a needle through hell, and the moment-to-moment terror is the product. SWAT 4 was a police simulator. This is a horror game cosplaying as one.

That would be fine if VOID admitted it. But they don't. They keep promising a simulation and delivering a punishment engine, and fans keep leaving "Very Positive" reviews because suffering has its own cult. I've uninstalled this game four times. I keep coming back like it's Dark Souls with a badge. That's not healthy. That's not what I want from a police tactical game. And this DLC is more of the same denial.

The graphics, world design & audio are still incredible, by the way. Genuinely. It deserves a better game around it.

"Good on VOID for making an unapologetic game about the real ♥♥♥♥ of being a law enforcement officer." - Reddit 2024

SWAT 4 permettait ça, Ready or Not non.

Very costly yet very powerful tool. For what it does, it's pretty cheap, because you can create a game from scratch in it. I wrote a whole scenarii with multiple countries and dialogues without any problem.

One little problem is not having an automatic save. Simple but so important.

This game does a very good job at transporting yourself into buses world. Everything related to buses are perfect, from sound to graphics, EVERYTHING is right where it should be.

However.

However, when busses are bugged, they're often not fixed. Take the AGG300 for example, the developed mechanics to allow this bus to exist are still WIP since ... 2016. Granted, December 2016, but still, a 2-year development only for a single bug that just crushes your experience is a little bit too much.

And it's precisely the problem. See, this game is starting to be outdated. Bus Simulator 2018 is out, and while it's still far behind in both sound & physics department, it is in advance in user-interface, graphics & passengers-AI. All in all, the lack of intuitivity and development from MR-Software are clearly showing only 3 years out.

It would have been a plus if OMSI, with its very simple map, would have shared equally easy development tools. Then it would have been nearly immortal, if it wasn't for its environment & AI graphics that are plain ugly.

Now, is it superior to Bus Simulator ? Overall yes. But you may take a look at ongoing development and see if MR-Software or Astragon are working for their replacement. If that's the case, you may reconsider buying it.

We're in October 2019 and AcroFS has been updated ! And Zeus, from my previous evaluation, you can see that it has been a succesful update.

First they've updated their UI, especially the control assignment panel. We've gone from a Soviet-era-like UI to a proper one. I've got a Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS + a VKB rudder panel and i must say everything worked as intended.

Secondly, its physics are way better. While not on par with an AeroflyFS we can still fairly say that we're close to a Microsoft Flight Simulator (X, 9, etc. not the 2020 one), even better in the low-speed area. Stalling can be done (dynamic stalling, inverted spinning, etc.). It's pretty basic, a little bit bland, but it's there and it's free.

Third, the missions are perfectly working and we're able to play them all. Normal you say ? Yeah, well, it wasn't the case until now, so ... but it's a cool experience again, a bit bland even in VR ... but it's free.

All in all, it's free, bland and performing. Which is okay as it cost 0 dollars and might get even updated later.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here was my previous evaluation :

"I do recommend it for a free VR chilling experience, but for everything else it is not performing up to the task.

The physics are poor and you can't properly follow the track when going full realistic, the tracks were not created with aircraft performances in mind. You need to be constantly overturning, and the pylons are not even modelled. What does that mean ? You go through, there's no hitbox, and above all, there's no differences between single or dual pylons like it does in the real Air races.

The user-interface is correct but the joystick calibration and parameters are pretty bad. You can't put a deadzone, it's not really user-friendly.

Overall a bad game, nor arcade-ish, neither realistic, but it's free-to-play, so this may correspond to some people, a very very limited crowd. But you certainly won't pass 10 hours on this."
