I feel the need to clarify a bit on this ridiculous review bombing.
The playerbase is upset because of the censoring as a result of the console expansion.

Very little of the game is actually adjusted as a result of this change. They remove nudity on a few characters and adjust a child's animation in one of the missions. While I will admit that one or two of these changes lowers the shock value of these instances when you come across them the first time, the overall message of the game does not change. They have not removed or otherwise altered, in any way, the rest of the content in the game. Understand this from the developer's perspective. They have sunk countless hours and money into making a console expansion. I understand the reasoning to maintain consistency between platforms.

The outcry, while based in a reasonable concern that the game is losing it's message, is largely irrational. You will still go and deal with threats and encounter things that will make you sick, emotional, and remind you what the evils of humanity truly are.

The gore censoring is more a change of the existing system and less a complete reduction. Prior to this update, you were able to inflict damage on dead corpses. Dismemberment is no longer possible on DEAD bodies. If you headshot someone with a shotgun, you'll still take their face off. You just can't do it if you shoot their dead body. Perhaps if you view this game more as a shooter or gorefest, then you'll be disappointed. Understand this game is not MEANT to be a typical shooter and ideally you kill LESS. At any rate, it's not a police officer's job to be shooting corpses. I am 99% sure the game punishes you for exerting excessive force on corpses, anyways.

TLDR: Censoring changes are as minimal as possible. Three characters and one discovery in one mission are censored. Gore is no longer inflicted on dead bodies, but remains if you inflict the damage on someone who is alive.

This game is still absolutely worth your money.

After the Sony shenanigans, it's worth bringing this game's ratings back.
Keep in mind that the developers of this game (Arrowhead) are fantastic with the community. They are interactive and responsive with the players and truly have our interests at heart.
That aside, this is an amazing game that is an absolute blast to play. It's so much fun with friends.

Great for multiplayer. If you like crafting and sometimes farming, this is the game for you.
4/5 stars because there are idiotic people.

I am editing this review after a few more thousand hours to say that I do not recommend this game.
Recently, an economy update was announced which dictates that any gameplay in a top tier aircraft cannot be profitable unless you perform consistently at an unreachable level- somewhere between 4-7 kills a match depending on the aircraft.
I have been playing this game for 10 years and have followed the transition from a passion project to a money grab and I cannot stand to recommend this game in it's current state.
