i've been lying awake at night for what feels like an eternity. tossing and turning, my mind races. where did it all go wrong? what happened to us? what did i do? did i mess it all up? my stomach churns with unease, and then i feel something wet trickling down my cheek.

we used to talk endlessly, laugh until our sides ached, binge-watch countless godforsaken animies, dream about the future, and try to make the world a better place by giving away free items to poor people. we had everything ahead of us. but now, there's nothing. just an oppressive silence. occasionally, i message her, just to check if she's still breathing. the responses, if they come at all, are lifeless. just a single, hollow word: "Fine."
