Unclear to the exact cause within Release 1.0, however when you join an active lobby, latency spikes to 170-190ms. Mangohub shows frametime cratering to ~1-2 frames per second and rendering time increasing to 7-9000ms respectively in kind. CPU and GPU usage drops to 2% in an active lobby from ~20-30% CPU in the menu and 100% utilization respectively; and sits there. I've tried clean installs, saved file deletes, config files deletes, switching to older Proton variants, switched to Proton-GE-8-25, no cigar. The game is essentially unplayable outside of the menus.

For reference:
CPU: R7 3800X @ 3.9
GPU: 1080Ti @ Stock
RAM: 32G | 3600Mhz

Previously, I've been able to play this game at 1440p on Epic settings around 60-75fps average and has been a very enjoyable game. Wish I could play more of with the latest content drop, but can't; and cannot recommend it to others looking to purchase--especially if you are on Linux.

Early Access Review
Very fun game for those 15 minutes of fun x3 sessions. RNG can be a little frustrating at first, but use the soul gems to up the rarity of rolls and then it becomes easier. 20 minutes is the longest I've managed to survive on F rank world survivor. Fire Ring + Death Aura + attack/damage stacks and epic draws of luck. Melts everything until the game melts you. Its very polished and runs great even at very high on-screen enemy counts. For the price, it offers a lot of enjoyment for a rogue-lite. I would recommend it.

The gameplay is engaging and the framerate is rock solid. You can switch between 30 or 60, suiting your preference. Finally, a dual audio release; and it's dragon quest. So you know what you're getting yourself into.

Only major point of contention is that there's an odd bug in the game with Nvidia GPU & drivers, where depending on location of a mass of enemies coupled with a special attack, leads to some kind of a collision detection bug which causes the driver itself to crash and the game along with it. So far, has only happend prior to non-lengthy cutscenes. People with AMD GPUs on the other hand are likely freed from this issue, due to the PS4 being an AMD GCN core.

The voice work is excellent and overall, is a very engaging and charming JRPG. I haven't progressed more than an hour into the game, but so far I would recommend it. If you have an Nvidia GPU wait until the next driver release and/or until the game fits your discretionary budget for purchase. But, definitely get it.
