I've played tens of thousands of hours across all Borderlands games, and I personally recommend this game.

Pros:
1. Some of the best gameplay/gunplay the series has ever seen.
2. Massively improved boss designs. (Although immune phases can suck sometimes)
3. Top-Notch Audio design.
4. Every gun feels unique and has a unique feel to it. They actually make you feel like there's a lot of guns in the game.
5. Social features are actually a big pro in this game. (Like the mailing system or even the LFG system)
6. Gearbox actually updates this game on weekly basis to fix/balance issues.

Cons:
1. The UI visually looks okay, but it feels like a kid designed it when you're trying to use it, massive drawback from Borderlands 2. (And it feels like they never played this game with a keyboard and mouse)
2. Game has gotten some optimization patches, but it's not perfect yet.
3. I don't like the new cross-play SHiFT has to offer, a bit unreliable especially when it comes to getting hotfixes.

The story was okay for me, but I agree that it does drag on way longer than it should.

If you want another Borderlands game, this will fill that void for you. It's absolutely great and I've had a lot of fun with it.

So, as you can see by my insane hours in this game, yes this game is good. I would even say the insides of this game are even better than Borderlands 2. The ONLY problem I have with this game is the lack of content but that is kind of unfixable since 2K Aus. shut down, since they were the ones whom developed the game.

But yeah, all the new additions are awesome and all of the DLCs are worth it, maybe not the holodome to a point but the character DLCs are among the best, and the claptrap DLC is one of my favorite DLCs Gearbox has ever made.

So if this game is on sale, you should pick it up. If you enjoyed Borderlands 2, you will love this one for sure.
