Love dice games. Yahtzee, King of Tokyo and Bang!: The dice game are all games that use this mechanic of rolling and re-rolling dice to acheive your desired result perfectly. Tharsis however is simply too hard and too unforgiving to be enjoyable. Even on the easiest setting the game is nearly impossible once you lose a crew member and the bonuses that you can get aren't nearly as beneficial as just fixing whatever part of the ship you're currently on. Giving all but one crew member one reroll on their dice seem unecessarily harsh; especially when there are instances where certain rolls are automatically locked or removed entirely.

Being an avid board gamer I really wanted to like this one but the game is just simply unfair. It's an exercise in masochism that doesn't nearly offer enough options to mitigate your dice rolls and one bad roll can mean the difference between winning and losing. The bonuses and management options are interesting but it doesn't have a sense of balance and feels as though you need a crystal ball to get through it.

I grabbed this one as a part of a humble bundle and would only recommend it if you can manage to get it the same way. There are simply too many better digital board games and dice games on steam to recommend this one.
