🕸️ Silksong - It all comes full circle.

(Spoiler-Free Review)

After spending around 85 unforgettable hours in Pharloom and reaching 97% completion (going for that 100%), I can honestly say Silksong is something special.

The game starts off slow and challenging. Every encounter feels tough at first, but once you get used to Hornet’s movement and combat, everything starts to flow beautifully. Act 1 sets the tone perfectly with small cutscene bits and smooth combat that really pull you into the world.

Pharloom feels like a dying kingdom, yet it sings the most beautiful song of all. The gray tone, the atmosphere, and the music by Christopher Larkin, just incredible. There were moments where I just stopped to look around or listen to the soundtrack. The Choral Chambers reminded me of the City of Tears, and Bellhart became one of my favorite areas (coincidentally where our home is).

Exploration kept surprising me. Every time I thought I’d seen it all, there was still more. The world is huge, maybe even bigger than Hollow Knight. The tools system stood out too. You can fight without them, but using them makes combat way more fun, fitting for Hornet’s agile style.

By the final act, the game reaches its peak. The story, the visuals, the music. Everything just comes together. It hit hard emotionally.

If you loved Hollow Knight, you’ll definitely love this. And for newcomers, I’d recommend playing Hollow Knight first to truly appreciate what Silksong connects and delivers.

A beautiful, bitter story that ties things together in ways that leave you emotional and nostalgic.

My Criticism for the Game:
You must think I'm blinded by love for the game, I'm not... I completely understand some of the criticisms out there.

The enemy spawns mid-fight were frustrating, especially in the early game. The double damage? Honestly, I didn’t mind. The difficulty felt challenging but never exhausting.

What I really didn’t like was the pacing in Act 1. It’s the hardest act because you don’t yet have enough masks, skills, or tools to properly handle the spawner bosses. Team Cherry designed Act 1 like Acts 2 and 3 but forgot that we’re still underpowered at the start, there’s no sense of gradual pacing, just constant pressure.

My only real issues were the inconsistent hitboxes and some unfair boss moments early on. But after Act 1, all that frustration faded away.

Despite these flaws, the game kept getting better and better. By the time I reached Act 3, everything changed... the story, the pacing, the music, the emotion, completely blew my mind. Silksong redeemed itself for me through its brilliant final act and the ending scenes that genuinely moved me.

⭐ Final Thoughts:

85 hours played

97% completion

Every minute worth it

⚠️ Spoilers Below - Read Only If You’ve Finished the Game ⚠️

The final act completely blew me away. The way the story and lore come together at the end is just perfect.

When our Brother appeared as the Shade Lord, the protagonist from Hollow Knight... That was the true peak of the game. The final cutscene felt like a full-circle moment. In Hollow Knight, Hornet saved us when we claimed the King’s Mark. Here, we return the favor and save her when the void almost consumes her. It’s poetic and emotional in a way that only Team Cherry could pull off.

Then there’s the journal tab for Lost Lace, where Hornet says, “This one... the dark shall not take.” That line hit me hard. It mirrors the Dream No More ending from Hollow Knight, when the void finally takes the Knight. It’s as if Hornet refuses to let history repeat itself. The writing in this game is simple yet incredibly powerful.

One beautiful moment in Act 2 was obtaining the Architect’s Memory, one of the three melodies. That entire scene was so emotionally built, perfectly capturing what Silksong stands for... melody, memory, and meaning. It’s one of those rare sequences that makes you just stop and feel.

The music deserves all the praise. The section in The Mist, leading up to its boss, had one of the best transitions I’ve heard in any game. And escaping the Abyss while the starting theme plays again gave me goosebumps.

Bosses like the Savage Beastfly were rough early on, especially with enemies spawning mid-fight, but over time, they felt fair. You just learn, improve, and adapt. That’s what makes each victory so rewarding.

Silksong doesn’t just continue Hollow Knight’s story, it completes it. The way it ties both games together makes the whole journey feel meaningful and connected.

Final Line:

Silksong isn’t just a game. It’s a beautiful, painful, and unforgettable "One of a Kind" experience.
