The story is incredibly compelling, and kept me pushing forward to find the next snippet of information. David Hewlett did an absolutely amazing job on the narration, with so much emotion bringing the dialogue to life and almost making me believe it.

The 6dof controlls took a little while to get to grips with, but only because I haven't played many 6dof games before.

The game froze a few times, especially when changing the level of detail on nearby objects, but it always recovered and carried on happily.

The standard mode in NightSky is a beautiful and relaxed experienced, with very little to trouble or annoy you as you're playing. I will no doubt go back and replay this mode again in the future.

The advanced mode, in comparison, takes the same levels and turns them into something that takes a little more precision and a lot more patience, subtly tweaking mechanics and layouts to add that extra level of challenge and frustration.

Nothing in the advanced mode was beyond my ability, but some of the levels required passing through tricky sections to get to the fiendishly difficult sections, many of which you only got one attempt at before failing miserably and going back to the start of the level and having to go through the tricky section again before being allowed to attempt the fiendish part again. This makes it very difficult to play around with the mechanics of the level to work out the solution to the puzzle and can get quite frustrating after a dozen or so attempts.

After completing both modes, finding all the stars, and finishing off the final levels, I can heartily recommend this game for either people wanting a peaceful experince for a few hours or for those wishing to atone for some major sins in a past life.

This is a very interesting piece of software to play around in. Designed to create space station designs for RPG games, it can also be used for anywhere you need inspiration for a space environment. I've personally used an earlier build to write a short story set on / around a space station.

There are a lot of options, with the basic layout great for generating a lot of stations for inspiration, standard for if you already know roughly what you want, and advanced for people who want to put in the time to get precisely the kind of station they're after. You can even tell the app what the purpose of the station will be (Engineering, Farm, Navy, and about a dozen others) so it knows what kind of rooms it should be generating for you.

The additional tilesets (Dark Alien is my personal favourite, but the "lettered" rooms are incredibly handy) are a nice touch, and there's also options for what kind of grid you want and even an interactive fog of war that would be amazing for DMs running a campaign.

So I guess it does basically everything you could want from something that generates space stations for you.
