I really, really wanted this game to be good. It's unfortunately let down in a big way by a number of foundational problems that very quickly led to me asking for a refund.

- Poor enemy readability. Enemies do not make noises when they spawn in, aggro, or fling projectiles, and stand out poorly from the environments.
- Questionable level design. Lots of mazes using often-repeated assets and very similar tilesets, sometimes making forward progress a matter of looking for where there are uncollected pickups.
- A lack of an understanding on what makes arena combat enjoyable. Enemies will spawn in based on your location without proper telegraphing, their projectiles will "lead" your directional momentum, and health/armor pickups are divvied up into multipledoom 1 style rows of small value pickups that waste your time and force you to run in a line rather than a lesser amount of well placed pickups that let you get back to the business of actually playing the game.
- Enemy health values are all over the place. Enemy design swings between easily 1-shottable regular enemies and high-priority targets with enough health to take almost a full clip of ammo from your primary weapon.

There certainly good things about this game, but if a shooter can't get the basics right I'm not going to waste my time with it.

Short but sweet send-up to survival horror classics; An outstanding effort for a one-man indie title.

TGAA is in many ways a massive departure from the formula of mainline Ace Attorney games, inasmuchas both titles in this collection serve as a single, unbroken story with a much more centralized cast of characters and themes. Delving into mysteries that have payoff times measured in DOZENS of hours of playtime is a big ask from Shu Takumi, but my god does it pay off. Taken as a single, very long game divided into two parts TGAA is an absolute knockout that stands head and shoulders above any other title in the series that's been officially translated into English. If you like Ace Attorney or just good VNs in general, do yourself a favor and pick this one up.

This game has a lot going on under the hood, but after completing it and doing some extra digging on everything that's going on here, I'd recommend spending your time elsewhere unless you're a huge fan of meta-narratives. Considering the level of effort the story put forth into trying to get me invested, none of writing was compelling enough to sell me on it.

Barring a handful of small hiccups, Resident Evil 2's remake completely blew my lofty expectations out of the water. This game has already set itself up to be every inch the classic that it's 1998 playstation counterpart and set itself up as a strong contender for GOTY 2019.
