could be an interesting game but the combat feels relatively flat and uninteresting, and it being such a blatant asset flip would maybe feel less bad if they didn't also have ai images and narration. honestly just wanted a dumb fun brain off rpg but i feel like this is a little too dumb and not that much fun.

im gonna be real with you BHVR, "generators, pallets, and windows" hasn't been a fun gameplay loop for a long time and you're only making it worse. the fact that after "anti-camp" and "slugging improvements" camping and slugging have only gotten worse should tell you literally everything you need to know. the worst part is the fact that this incredibly basic gameplay loop barely works and you get hit through pallets way too often. this game used to be really really fun about 2 years ago and its exclusively declined.

Honestly, this game is really fun. The gameplay is a solidly fun base (probably the most fun porn game out there, imho), but the rest of it is good. The art in the VNs and levels is really cute, the animations are high quality and pleasant to look at (not just from a horny standpoint, they just look good). Music is decent, and mod support is cool. If I had to complain abt anything it'd be minor stuff, but like

a. I would really like a way to lower the contrast of the beat bar. It's a VERY stark white and I have my monitor set to a pretty reasonable brightness, and it still causes some discomfort.
b. This may be an issue with the newest version and its mod browser (as mentioned in the patch notes), but it just straight up doesnt recognize some mods I got from the site. Maybe I should rezip the files and try them as archives, but the folder root just doesn't get recognized, and I made sure the file structure is correct. Minor problem, but I'd prefer for all mods to work so I can play the game more!

Overall, genuine recommend, not just for coomerness, but because its fun. I haven't tried Lovense support, I will soon, will update then :)

In my first good run, I fought my way to the DMC, got my first quest, and got chased by guards that would initiate combat, offer a ceasefire, and then follow me and do that again, before i crapped myself to death just outside city limits. Very fun crackhead sim, especially on sale.

This game has a large amount of issues that lead to it feeling survivor sided, and until those things are changed, I cannot genuinely recommend it. Within a couple weeks, once people "git gud", playing killer will be incredibly unpleasant.

The ability to restore health all the way to full with candy bars, the ability to revive with book of the dead, the incredibly small, difficult to see, and hard to follow footprints survivors leave, the general ease of coordination with cross map VC, and the generally difficult maps for all players to navigate heavily punish the killer. The last one may sound like an equal flaw, but as killer, if someone fails a skill check, you basically cannot exploit that unless you're already basically right on top of the crafting station, due to awkward map navigation. It's the same issue as RPD in DbD.

Additionally, while downing survivors as killer is INCREDIBLY easy, due to lack of any sort of "loops" or ways for survivors to reasonably outwit or evade the killer outside of purely incompetent killer players, its incredibly boring. The chases provide no tension or thrill 95% of the time, because both parties KNOW the survivor will be downed at the end of the day.

This game is ABSURDLY fun. It does a genuinely incredibly job of making you feel like a mountain of a man (or well, machine) while still being thoroughly challenging. I cleared layer 4 on Violent difficulty today, and it's been probably one of the best gaming experiences I've had in a long time! I highly recommend you play it, and preferably do your first pt on Violent. Standard would've been easier to clear, yes, but I would've almost certainly lost out on some crazy triumph moments against bosses that were hard.

EDIT IN 2024: I'm only coming back to say that I agree with this review even more than I did when I first left it. Ultrakill is a masterpiece, the secret bosses and levels are a ton of fun, and Brutal difficulty is incredible. The satisfaction you will feel from the constant gradual improvement and development of your skills is immense and this game is stupidly good.

In its current state, this game is not worth your time or money. Alone, it is extremely boring and grindy, it feels like progression even to the first boss is like crawling through molasses. However, with friends, it is still boring and grindy, but a lot of the enemy ai tuning becomes incredibly apparent, because you will actually reach areas, such as the burial chamber/black forest, that you are woefully undergeared for but need to enter them to actually get the gear to progress. It's almost impressive how poorly the ai is designed, honestly. They hit like freight trains but cant be dodged due to the dodge mechanic being designed incredibly poorly, they're stupid, they're tanky, and they will chase you endlessly unless you leave the server and reenter. Basically, don't buy it unless they completely overhaul the entire game's progression, which i doubt they will.

I got this game through a Humble Bundle god knows how long ago, and only recently did I actually sit down to play it. I had been very interested in both Escape from Tarkov (which this game is not much like, to be fair) and the DayZ standalone. I was iffy on purchasing DayZ, but had fully decided to buy Tarkov when I had the money. This game, both at the normal price and especially the sale price, is much more worthwhile than the DayZ standalone. It's better made, easier to learn, and has a generally nicer, but active, community. At the time of this review I only have around 10 hours clocked, but all of those 10 have been across about 3 days and I've had a large amount of fun during them. The various types of zombies, weather events, weapons, and even players you will encounter make this game quite fun and worth the playtime, and if you're undecided on DayZ due to the price, I would highly recommend this instead. It's also scratched my itch for EFT as I wait for my new SSD to arrive, but that may just be me. Also, being what it is, it preforms quite well on a normal HDD, so those without SSDs need not worry. All in all, this game is an easy 8-9/10 for me, and I WILL be putting more time in in the future. I hope to see you there!

Extremely fun game, especially if you like looter shooters. Now that it's free I would genuinely say you have no reason not to at least give it a try.
