Five hours in and I can say this - the Character Creator is really good.

50ish hours in and I update to say - I greatly enjoyed the full party tactics of Origins, but this is my second favourite combat in the series. (origins being my fave)

This is just an improvement on DA2. Enough said.
DAI went back towards Origins, but without full tactics your AI companions would need to be juggled to live on higher difficulties (especially my boy Cole, and Iron Bull).

DAVG is so much more streamlined and plays more like an action game with active dodging and parrying instead of a dodge% or parry on cooldown.


Plus, the huge number of QOL improvments, not limited to:
-Transmog !!
-customisable UI (quest markers on/off, thank you)
-customisable combat assistance/difficulty instead of static difficulty levels only
-better inventory management (no more picking up junk and hitting 120/120 items)
-skill tree can be changed so you can't get stuck with bad choices
-PARTY BANTER RESTARTS IF INTERRUPTED!!!! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I hated the Requisition Officer in DAI for this

The game itself is good fun. Rescource management, exploring, tactical turn-based combat and all that.
However it seems to be a coin flip on whether it crashes at certain points.
Certain points like... opening your inventory, your character screen, the map screen, saving the game, loading the game, going into the assignment board, opening a lootable inventory and so on.
You know, the entire game.

I wish it didn't crash so often because it is a good game, but it's not supported anymore and I can't recommend someone buy it in this (dead) state.

This game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ phenomenal.
If you enjoy world-building, reading, and exploring weird interactions and dialogues you gotta play it.

THAT SAID.

The original devs got shafted and no longer get income from you purchasing this game so if you can find it while sailing the 7 seas, do not feel bad about not supporting this amazing game because a purchase isn't doing anything anyway.
