This is truly an amazing game that rivals Hollow Knight in terms of metroidvanias. The art design is beautiful and immaculate, enemy designs are varied and unique and the atmosphere feels captivating as well with the beautiful orchestral soundtrack that give me studio ghibli vibes.
Gameplay wise the game plays smooth as butter, controls are tight and responsive and for as long as I have been playing I haven't noticed any hit box detection issues or glitches. The game is a good challenge too, with engaging boss fights and a plethora of monsters to hack your way through. The game is also forgiving in that you can pause the game to use health potions in the middle of battle. Equipment is varied and versatile, I don't know how balanced the game is however since I've only played through with a scythe, which seems to be overpowered possibly.
Overall this game is an incredible accomplishment well worth the 20 bucks. I await to see what this developer comes out with next.

It's like pokemon, but a metroidvania game. The story is just decent, which is fine, I wasn't expecting anything riveting or deep, and the characters and world design aren't phenomenal or very remarkable, though quaint and nostalgic.
But where this game shines for me is with the variety of monsters and the combat system, which I found surprisingly complex and well structured. After playing for 30+ hours, it has really filled a void that was left from playing pokemon until jaded.
Overall Monster Sanctuary is a solid and relatively unique game. The story, world, main characters, lore and soundtrack are good and the game mechanics are great. 8/10
