The great migration of players from other extraction shooters will come to sap all joy from the air and excrete the bitter scent of loss into your inventory.
But that hasn't fully happened yet so its great! I am able to go into a raid without the fear some crackhead will jump around the corner and execute me without me being able to fight back (unlike some other extraction shooters)

I want to just write my take on some of the wider complaints at the moment, since I don't think that even the biggest complaints currently should dissuade someone from buying the game if they are interested. All of these are valid criticisms that, in my opinion, do not ruin the game as a lot of people say.

- The game is too hard. Everything does two damage for no reason.

--> A large difference is the punishment for hits by direct attacks. Typically, contact will not result in 2 masks of damage unless contact is a primary means of damage from the enemy. You will be punished by normal enemies often and it can be infuriating (they are not cannon fodder in this game.)
Typically, highly choreographed or primary attack = 2 masks, running into enemy = 1 mask UNLESS the enemy's way to hurt you is physically touching you. Exceptions are rare but very hostile.

The biggest reason for this complaint I feel is that this rule is applied very early on. I can only assume this is to get you used to the difficulty and smooth out the difficulty spike over time. It does not succeed, and it artificially cranks the difficulty VERY early, which clearly made it more difficult for them to up the difficulty on later bosses. If the bosses at the start were doing two masks, who would've guessed it - the final bosses also do two masks of damage. Some of my highest attempt bosses were at the start of the game because of this.

- Benches are uncommon and cause long times spent running back to bosses.

--> There are a glaring minority of bosses which take longer than 1-ish minute to run back to from the closest bench. They are a pain, but I can only think of one necessary for progression and the runback is maybe 2 minutes at worst.

If you see claims of 5 minute runbacks or longer, they are likely regarding a singular optional boss which has some unfortunate design choices, or just exaggerating because a runback kicked their ass. The biggest issue with runbacks is the fact that they CAN kick your ass, and dying on the way to a boss where your cocoon is waiting with 500 rosaries is brutal. Consequence should be because of a boss, not because of bad platforming, unless platforming is the boss (look at radiance).

- Currency is hard to come by, everything is expensive.

--> You're broke, but if you dont buy everything you see you don't need to be. Money is hard to come by, save your rosaries for when you need them instead of buying that $900 trinket. Rosary bead consumables are a safety net that nobody seems to use because of the opportunity cost associated with conversion, you will be able to consistently afford benches if you save consumable rosary items for those moments, and losing 20 rosaries on a conversion fee is really negligible when its the determining factor between having or not having a map/bench.

Having said that, I hope they do buff the rosary output on most enemies.. bug inflation is real with low supply and one hornet of demand

Most other things are petty complaints. The game is good and it was worth the wait.

Most of the negative reviews are because of the illusion of choice in this game.
Simply, choices impact the story, they do not impact the main progression. The story is pretty damn good, so it is impactful, but it definitely detracts from the main gameplay.

Yes, the game is poorly optimized.
Yes, you need a monster of a PC to run the game.
Yes, the game is good.
With an intel i9-13900KF the game still hogs a good portion of my CPU. Having said that, this game is a ton of fun and if you have the hardware to run it it is worth it.
