DO NOT BUY THIS GAME... yet.

Let's go over why you should wait to buy this game:

- The price

It is way too expensive for the features this game provides.
Not only that, the game is bugged like crazy.
Which brings me to point #2

- Bugs

The game is full of them.
- Drivers ignoring blue flags in corners, so they can hold up your driver lapping them for a good 4-5s.
- DRS not working half the race EVERY race.
- Drivers who you were catching at 1s per lap can suddenly keep following you and battle your driver for 4-5 laps straight.
- When they then pass your driver they slow down to their 1s slower pace.
- These slower drivers tend to also be on older and harder tyres making this sudden increase in pace even more unrealistic.
- Driver skills have 0 input on how they drive, its 100% random. You can use development points on all you want, it's not gonna change anything specific about your driver's performance.
- Same with the development of pit crew. You can use any form of focus and they will still be doing everything the same.
- Red Bull has a rating of 70+ on everything and somehow change the setup 20s slower than Alfa Romeo with a rating of less than 50 on everything.

Now let's mention why you should be buying this game eventually:

+ The gameplay

The game has a brilliant idea behind it.
- Designing new parts, manufacturing them and using them.
- Managing contracts, building/upgrading facilities and keeping track of finances.
- Getting the right setup during practice, getting them out at the right time for the best possible qualifying and managing their tyres, fuel and ERS during the race.
They really are trying to get you to feel like an F1 Team Principal.

+ The real voices

They use real voices from the real engineers and drivers. (only F1 engineers and drivers, the others are not in the game (yet?) )

+ The potential

With some proper bug fixes and a few additions to the game, this could be an insanely good game.
I'm saying could be, because just with the bug fixes alone I would still never pay more than €30 for a game like this.

In conclusion: wait for the bigger updates and bug fixes before you buy/try this game. This version of the game does nothing but annoy you with the game seemingly trying to do everything to ruin your race weekend.

Best F1 game by far!
But not perfect!

Let's start with what I think is bad about this game:

Almost nothing new in the driver creation menu. There are no new helmet models to pick from (actually really disappointing for me). And sure, you can pick your audio name now and not be called "a *teamname*" but even there it just seems to lack a lot of decent/basic names.

Can't change the length of one race weekend. I don't know about others, but I usually do the qualifying on full and the race on 25%. But for some Grand Prixs, I like to go for a full 100% race. I have not been able to locate a way to change the length of certain race weekends.

The AI doesn't seem to be aware of where I am. This might be just a bug for me, but everytime I get to the inside or outside next to one of the AI's, they steer into me like I'm not even there. Blue flags also seem to get completely ignored.

Celebration after winning a race hasn't changed at all. I used to like seeing the driver get out of his car and cheer. But in the last couple of years he just gets out, gets on top of his car, stretches out his arms, jumps off and thats it. I want to see the driver run to his team, maybe hug another driver, even just a handshake will do.

The last thing I sort of dislike is in the Press Interviews. I love the feature and think it's a great feature to return to the game. But there is one tiny thing I kinda hate about it and thats the timer. I got this question that had 4 answers, all filling the answer block they were in. I had 10 seconds to read them all and answer. Now imagine someone who actually has trouble with english. He would have immense trouble reading that much in such little time.

Now lets get to the good stuff:

The new desk area in career mode is amazing. The way they packed everything onto your computer instead of having to answer the phone all the time or have this 3min long cutscene you can't skip even though you've lived it a million times is a big improvement.

The graphics have improved for sure. It's not a massive upgrade from F1 2017, but an upgrade nonetheless. Everything looks cleaner, more realistic and it surely helps you get an even greater experience.

The handling and sound have improved a lot as well. In my opinion this is a pretty big upgrade from last year. The way the car feels, the way the feedback feels in your hand when you hit a curb or potentially even a wall help make this so much more real in the eyes and hands of the player. The sound is also A LOT better. It sounds so much more like the F1 cars sound than it did last year and I applaud Codemasters for that!

Of course you have the updated carmodels and liveries. Which I know include the halo and everybody hates it but right now, the halo is a part of F1 and the point of the game is for people to have an as real experience as possible. So for me it's good they put it in the game as well.

Press interviews... Love them! Although they have a slight flaw as I stated in the negative part. They are something I missed in the previous couple of F1 Games and I am happy they brought them back! They aren't too difficult to answer without affecting your R&D departments moral, but I do suggest reading and thinking before answering ;)

In conclusion:

The game is absolutely amazing to play. Thinking away some minor flaws of which some can still easily be updated or fixed it's an absolute giant of a game and I absolutely recommend buying it.

Also quick reminder, this review is completely my own opinion and you are entitled to having your own!

This is a great game!
Only a few things I would say need some improvement.
Blue flags are very unrealistically followed by the other drivers. They only move over on straights and even then sometimes just move half a carwidth.
It's also a bit laggy(even when all graphics settings on low) and caused my pc to crash twice(I have a pretty strong PC, it can handle GTA V so....).
Otherwise this is a magnificent game.
It's such an upgrade from all the previous F1 games it just made my day playing this game.
