Edit: Sony is claiming to back off for now. Switching my review to positive so Sony can see some measurable good from backtracking a bad decision. Context

I'm doing my part!

(I like this game and thanks for the birthday gift Matt! I just don't want Sony forcing me to create a PlayStation account for a PC game..)

Dome Keeper, except a third of the price and sideways! Play as a mecha-spider crawling along a wall, finding new mines for supplies, and fighting against endless waves of enemies. Rogue-lite, so there are some perma-upgrades that carry over between runs. The pixel art is awesome and the gameplay is very addicting to optimize!

Bioshock on a space station! Immersive, rewarding, and chilling. Absolutely recommended if you like strong single-player campaigns!

10/10 would be a throwaway wage slave for a faceless space mining corporation again.

Really immersive! I tried to lean against a wall in my first firefight. 😅 Feels like a true Half Life game! A good balance of realistic, but not so realistic that's it's not fun.

My only complaint would be some missing polish that rarely breaks immersion, like how you can't move the curtains on windows, occasional low res textures, or the couple times I saw enemies get stuck in walls/ground or use bad pathing. A vehicle section would have been cool too, but I imagine that's probably disorienting for non-seated VR. All non-humanoid models are animated with a lower framerate (maybe 30fps?) which makes them seem super jarring and breaks immersion.

I had continuous issues with lost hand tracking on my WMR (Acer) headset, so I'd recommend using a proper Vive/Oculus/Index with external cameras doing the hand tracking for this game.

This game was six months old when it finally arrived on Steam. I expected most of the issues would be resolved by now. I expected it to crash less. I expected the missions to not often require exiting and reloading the game to work properly.

The menus and UI (especially map and missions) is a step backwards from BL2 and TPS. The base story is meh. It felt like hard work to try and enjoy this game despite it's frustrating flaws. I was looking forward to it so much, but I'm ultimately extremely dissatisfied.
