don't buy this if you don't have a controller!! wasd and enter get you through most situations but some menus and guis have no exit option if you're on keyboard, softlocking the game half an hour in. controller is on its way so ill finish soon, but what i played so far was fun!

Qube 2 is a visually stunning series of fun and satisfying puzzles, all tied together with an ever-unfolding mystery. The game mechanic is simple and feels good to use. What's there is certainly excellent, however, I have a big problem with what ISN'T there.

The game utilizes little timing skills and no instict. Puzzles naturally focus more on longer-term problem solving, but the game mechanic has so much more potential. The game as a whole could hugely benefit from more action. It's truly a shame that there's no level editor and no community levels. Much of the game's untapped potential could be fulfilled by the community.

The ending of Qube 2 left much to be desired. The last puzzle is a little more elaborate than the others, but it's still very relaxed and doesn't come close to providing a feeling of finality. As much as I enjoyed the slow-paced puzzle solving, some high-pressure ending would have made a much better ending. Story-wise, an interesting conflict had been building, only to be reduced to a non-issue in the games final moments. That made the ending a dissapointment on two counts.

Overall, I definitely recommend Qube 2. As unfortunate as the ending was, it's about the journey, not the destination. It's worth the $25, but I'm still glad I snagged it during the sale.
