Elite V in Exobiology, Elite I in Exploration, currently 20,000 LY from the Bubble, and built my own colony a couple of months ago… and I’m still finding reasons to jump back in. Elite Dangerous is more than a game—it’s a galaxy that feels alive.

One day, I’m cataloging alien life, the next, I’m bounty hunting or taking mercenary contracts. The sense of scale is unmatched: every discovery feels earned, every fight is intense, and the silence of deep space is just as powerful as the chaos of combat.

It’s not perfect—travel is slow, engineering is grindy, and the galaxy can feel lonely—but that’s also what makes it real. If you want to live in space instead of just playing in it, nothing else compares.

Verdict: ★★★★★★★★★☆ (9/10) — Still flying, still discovering, still worth it.

Early Access Review
OK...about time to write this review...

I have played this game off an on since it first came out. While it is still in early access, there is so much to do. I really like this game for the weapons and the base building, but now there are boats and airplanes...wow! Of course almost everyone talks about the metabolism and skill system. Yes, it's amazing! In the game, it matters what you eat and what you do as far as activity. The medical system is interesting too as you can treat wounds. The graphics are amazing and just travelling from place to place is spectacular. You can really enjoy looking around at the landscape.

I really enjoy seeing what develops with this game.

I beta-tested this game and followed it over to launch, but started on the EU servers at the time (Codemasters lolz). After a few months, I came to the NA servers and played for a while. I quit shortly after the Mines of Moria came out. Once you ground out all the classes to max, play Freeps vs. Creeps, etc. there wasn't much to do. So, just like any game, time to move on.

Now it's 2021 and I stepped back into the game. With all the new content, which I haven't even touched, there is so much to do. This game is amazing simply for capturing Middle-Earth and all the iconic places. One thing I liked was the Warden class because of the gambits. Also, the legendary item system is pretty neat and there are very few games that have such a system. I haven't played mounted combat yet, but I am looking forward to that when I get to Rohan. You can solo much of the game unlike before since the addition of scaled instances and level boosts (you have to purchase these). One thing I should mention is using plugins, which are player-generated programs that help your experience (e.g. annotated map, inventory management, etc.). Don't get me started on the LotRO store, since there are so many items in there just from a quality of life aspect. You can use points that you get in game to buy helpful things, like accelerating slayer deeds.

Hindsight is always 20/20, so should I have stayed on this MMO since the start?...probably. This game is still going and like others (SWTOR), there is new content still coming. I only play VIP, which is my opinion is just more convenient with the perks. Also, you have to unlock content, which I did, so I cannot tell you the F2P experience. I would assume it would be a hinderance, unless you are going to only play a hour a week.

Tl;dr: If you are excited about the series coming out next year and want to dive into Middle-Earth, this is a game worth playing even casually.

I beta tested this game and played after launch for about 3 months. The reason I stopped was the lack of content in the early years. Having said that, I am back after 9 years...

While ALOT has changed since 2012, it wasn't difficult to get back into the game. There are plenty of online guides that can help old players understand how to gear, quest lines, etc. Over the past few weeks, I have become enchanted with the expansions in terms of story. If you are looking for something "Star-Warsy and iconic" that you can enjoy playing solo or with a group of friends, then give SWTOR another shot. There is plenty to do in this game and actually I would hope there are future updates with new content.

For new players that are looking to waste some time while waiting for the next SW game, it might be worth it. I cannot tell you about the free-to-play experience, but just the class story content is worth it. As far as activity, there are plenty of players online from what I have seen.

I have played this since day one and while this game isn't perfect, it is entertaining. With the Wastelanders update, this game adds the much needed NPCs. It feels closer to the Fallout universe in it's current state. I look forward to more updates.

In 1994, I used to play this game for hours on end. For me, this is one of the best RPGs that I ever played. I enjoyed the historical setting and the research that went into recreating the Holy Roman Empire of the 15th century. From character creation to combat, the mechanics were unique. Also, I think the encounters and the decisions that followed was one of the great aspects of the game.

I played this game from the first day for EA to mid-2018. Now I am back a year and a half later to play some more. I really enjoy this game because of the base-building and the mods. You can couple this with the fact that I use a private server, I can build until my heart's content. If you like to pass time building new bases and stocking it with whatever you want, then this is a game I would recommend. Also, the building system is easy to learn as well and is not as complicated as other systems.

The level grind is easy to get to cap (20-30 hours of in-game time) and has a easy learning curve for most players. The time sink is in the endgame content. At this point, it isn't difficult to get a complete armor set, but the weapon set will take a little bit of time because the gear is located in the "higher" tiered instances. Still, with a good guild, anything is possible, but it does take some dedication. Yet, the items can be purchased on the Auction House. PvP is a little lackluster because some classes are a little OP. Again, with the right group of people, this is easily overcome. The current issue is getting past the fact that players can go "pay to win" by purchasing the best gear and enchants. Don't expect to steamroll over groups of players with perfect enchants and rank 10s. You will just get raped.

Content and classes seems to be rolling out about every 3-4 months. Currently, there is a PvP patch to address some balance issues with overpowered builds. While this will make fights last longer and penalize leavers from PvP matchs, don't expect to be a player with all greens defeating moderatly geared players. There will be a new matchmaking system implemented, which should help with that issue. Overall, PvP needed to be polished quite a bit, but running with guildies make collecting tears in PvP much more satisfying. Lastly, new PvP armor sets are being released soon.

Overall, this game is enjoyable with a decent guild. I have been playing since the first day of Open Beta and don't think I will be running off to a new game soon. I am eager to see the updates and new content in the upcoming months and years. I expect this game to last quite a while.
