Have been playing H1Z1 since the middle of Pre-Season 5, so I definitely started it too late. Heard about it when it came out, but somewhy I didn't like the genre back then.
I played a lot of other games, like CS:GO, HS, FIFA, but when I got bored of them all, I needed something new.

One of my friend suggested me this game, when it was cheaper than the original price (bought it for 10€ instead of 20€).
Fortunately many of my other friends had this game too.

H1Z1 was a love for the first sight. The pace, the music, the intense gameplay, the competitive nature. It had it all. Something new for me. Something to grind. A game, in which I was terrible, so I had the urge to improve. I always liked the competitive sprit. All games that I played, I wanted to be the best. So I started grinding this game.

Many weeks/few months later, Combat Update came to light. We all know what happened after. The whole game started moving downside on the slope. The animations, the movement, the combat, the UI... Literally everyting. But it still was a new game, that I wanted to play as much as I can. Especially, because I could do it with my friends.

I had like 3 kills in my first 20 games. Then the first win (squad, 1 (!) kill). Then the first solo win, with 4 kills. I considered myself a god. I was super happy when I got that.

I didn't really care about the fact that the game is getting worse, and worse, and people continously leaving this game. I still loved it. So I actually did care about that. I was sad, and angry at the same time. But later I got used to these consant new (and bad!) stuff, and the only thing I paid attention to, was becoming better and better, step by step.

Here we are now, waiting for Z1 remastered, waiting for the oldschool good stuff to come back. I never experienced Z1, since I started in PS5, so I'm super excited about it, despite going through so much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in this game. Both physically, and mentally.

I could write an essay about this game, my experiences, my road from a 0 kill gamer to a royalty player, and stuff - but the only important thing is that I love this game.
