Despite all it's flaws I enjoy this game and continue to come back to it. I enjoy my time spent in it alone as much as I do playing fresh with friends. I think constantly playing it will slowly show more flaws that still exist, but I don't regret any of my time and investment in this game nor the full price I chucked out in its earliest stages. It's a game that keeps getting better. The more time I spend away I get to come back to new things and new discoveries, a baseline of familiarity while also learning and exploring new things constantly. There could be 0 story or actual gameplay and I could easily enjoy 300 more hours of just jumping through space to new planets and discovering new funny little creatures and plants I can name and I'd be perfectly content.

If you come in with high expectations of an ideal perfect game that will blow your mind, you're probably going to be let down. If you come in to run around in space the same way you start a new file in Skyrim or Fallout, running around doing whatever the hell experimental build, looking at funny natural spawns and glitches, building a home base you think is just alright enough while slowly making a wildly overpowered character to go on a funny adventure, you'll probably have a good time.

I've longed for a game where I can look at a thing in the distance and just go there on a whim. I've always wanted to find something no one has seen before and give it a fun name or run into something someone else has discovered while passing on their own journey, like sending or finding a message in a bottle in the cosmos. I've always wanted a place where I can quietly wander on my own, run into someone else in the middle of nowhere, or travel the stars alongside my friends. This is that game.
