You have to wonder if the devs playtest their own game

Just wanted to give the perspective from someone who's playing co-op with no performance issues. Love the humor and game play so far, there are a few qol things that I wish existed (mouse sensitivity setting for example) but overall my girlfriend and I are having a lot of fun. I think the price is a bit rough but it's very clear the devs put a lot of love into it. The only thing I wish it had was a way to buy two copies at a discount (or some kind of it takes 2 thing where only one person needs to buy the game).

I've put quite a bit of time into the game so I feel like I can give a more understanding review of both early/mid/late game (scroll to the bottom for a TLDR). To start off visually the game looks and runs great (other than the crashing which ill get into), no issues there, the main issue I think comes from the combat/looting system. Early game I very much enjoyed running around to houses and farms and exploring and killing enemies but as I moved forward I couldn't help but notice that the houses started looking a bit too familiar and rather empty.

Situations would go like this, run along road, find house/barn, loot house/barn and find ammo and upgrades, and then rinse and repeat. The only enemy I would see was the same old Dog robot which are very weak and have a nice satisfying weak spot that made killing them enjoyable for the most part. But I just kept thinking oh well I've seen the trailers i'll find harder and different enemies as well as new buildings soon. So I continued forward and for the most part it was true, you find a town that at first glace looks amazing but again have just a very familiar feeling to them. and you get introduced to a single new robot but this robot is even easier to kill and only calls for more dogs. Now if you're like me and enjoy exploring and trying to find all the loot spots and collectibles that are hidden throughout the game you're roughly 2 hours in and have still yet to have a real challenge. Your inventory by this point is so full of meds and ammo that there is no chance you're going to truly die.

By hour 3 when I was getting close to giving up I run into a robot that's quite a bit bigger and definitely scarier but still dies pretty easily. I find some new weapons and it keeps me going a bit longer but still it's very boring. Eventually you start collecting items that let you get into bunkers with more loot but still it's a lot of exploring and not rewarding enough.

Then you get off the early islands and the game cranks up the difficulty about 500%, the giant enemies take all your ammo to kill and it becomes a blast for a short while but the enemies are so hard and time consuming to kill with anything but explosives that you hardly use anything but a rocket launcher. So the game becomes a cycle of stun the robot, use mines/explosives to kill the robot, and then loot it for more explosives and kill the next one. And they may as well be bullet resistant because i've emptied 200+ Ar rounds into a weak point and it still wouldn't take one down. and from here on the enemies are just harder to kill but only in the sense that they take more bullets to kill, it's not enjoyable at all.

Overall the game is just repetitive and boring, there aren't enough unique robots and their difficulty is only based on how many bullets/explosives it takes to kill it. The loot system isn't bad but ammo is a pain to deal with and managing your inventory is a chore(I recommend upgrading inventory space). The houses all feel the same, the quests are repetitive and boring, moving around the map isn't fun (highly recommend maxing running speed/stamina early) and the bugs are a huge pain. I've lost so much progress and had to redo so many missions because they didn't save after completing them with friends.

5/10 - Has a lot of potential

TLDR: Game gets repetitive, it starts off way too easy, and the later end game enemies are just bullet sponges that while start off fun become tedious. Houses are repetitive and boring and you spend a lot of time just running (think dayz). Co-op progression is way too buggy and has caused me to lose quest progress several times which is a huge pain. Feels like it was simply released too early, i'll be keeping an eye on the updates and might try playing it again someday but for now I've lost interest.

It's a little frustrating when you find out that they basically updated the game from the previous party pack and try to sell it again (ex. Quiplash). other then that it's just ok

I can't stand the iron sights on most guns, the weapon sway makes it near impossible to stand and shoot, the air support is crazy overpowered and grenades can hit you from 10 meters away. It feels like a poor mans battlefield.

Early Access Review
Despite the bad reviews the game is alot of fun and is updated often, not sure why i see alot of "the devs don't care" reviews.
