Pretty hard to recommend it in it's current state. The world itself is good mind you, filled of places to explore, things to do, money to earn and even a fair bit of questing. I really like the oldschool style of how there's no markers or map to navigate and how the MC starts essentially from zero.

The thing that throws me off is the combat. I have taken enough fights by this stage to talk about it and while I understand the game has the right to be difficult given the situation we are in, it's the combat jankyness that hits the worst. Enemies have more or less infinite stamina, can recover their bars immediately, can "miss" you but you still get hit after a second and a lot other things I can go on about. This would still be tolerable if combat mechanics were the same way for you, the player as well. No I don't need inifite stamina, but the hitboxes are terrible, movement is .. let's say unsatisfying and the enemy AI is just, I don't know how to say it - unpredictable?
Sometimes they just continously take hits without reacting and sometimes they just chain strong attacks with no stamina penalty.

Devs, please take this review as a critique and improve this. Combat should atleast FEEL fair for the player to have fun. I really want to play this game but the jankyness of the combat just throws me off. I will definitely change my review when you do.

10/10 addiction, had to convince myself to play other addicting games to get out of this addiction. But I will be back for Phase 3 and above.

Went in totally blind. Literally saw only a short combat sequence of when the game was getting released on PlayStation and I was like the combat looks amazing. Forgot about it for a while.

I kept hearing various things about the game - good and bad. I’m not the “fan service enjoyer” guy, but treat it as a secondary or tertiary experience. The outfits though, they are beautiful nonetheless, it doesn’t matter if the “bodies” are unrealistic. It’s a video game DUH, the whole world of earth inside is literally fiction.

If you have the patience to read memories and data banks - which I did - stories of most characters within the game are very richly developed. The world is filled with things to do, enemies to fight and places to explore. The cinematic sequences arguably do feel incomplete.

Combat is very fluid, love the moves and all the special powers and effects.

At the point of writing this review, I’m likely on the the secret ending on my first ever playthrough - no guides. I figured this out when a certain sequence played that felt out of place. That’s how much I was hooked into it - finishing up every side quest, contract, etc, even those funky math puzzles. Somehow, I just don’t want the story to end. Wish it was longer!

The main quest was a little predictable from the mid game onwards, but regardless it was decent, when coupled with the gaps of information you fill in from the data bank and memories that I talked about earlier.

For me, it was an unique experience even after experiencing various souls likes before.

Story - 8.5/10
Combat - 10/10
World - 9/10
Exploration 8.5/10
Character development: 9/10
Music - 10/10

Overall: 9/10

EDIT after completing all the endings and 100%'ing the game:
Absolutely beautiful game. Story is definitely weak, but like I said in my review - do the side quests, it will make it much better! Exploring areas are definitely a chore sometimes, but rewarding. Can't wait for Stellar Blade 2 :)

OST is going straight to my regular playlist. I’ll update this review after finishing my play through and going through atleast one of the regular endings (on a NG+).

I don’t post comments following the market hype. In my opinion, this is a 9/10 game and is as close you can get to a proper arcade shooter supported by a large corpo and great optimisation.

Honestly the only thing I hate about this game is the ingame menu. It’s extremely confusing and it needs a design overhaul.

If you are scrolling through the comments to find out whether this game is worth it or not, don't listen to the comments, they are personal opinions against expectations that they hold BioWare against. And in my personal opinion, it's a great game. I am thoroughly enjoying it.

Download the game, choose a default preset and find out if you like the game. You can change appearance freely later on whenever you want. If you don't like it, refund it and leave a comment.

Can't recommend this game enough. Combat feels great, movement feels fast paced (based on build), sound design is amazing, pretty great grim dark fantasy open world with absolutely tons to explore and a gripping story. Even the main characters voices have so much "depth". Very few indie games on this genre can provide all of this with. The game is actually underpriced for the amount of content and re-playability it offers.

Yeah there are negatives such as the graphics - they aren't the best and neither are the facial animations. But when the gameplay soaks you in, you won't even notice the graphical nitty-gritties. There are a few bugs here and there, but the devs are working hard to squash them out. Personally except this one occasion where I had to restart my game because of a UI bug, I didn't face anything that broke my immersion or my game.

All in all 9.5/10 I will do anything for my King.

Great RPG. Bought this back when it released, played it now. Thoroughly enjoyed it and apart from some of the tree textures, the graphics hold up pretty well. The world is brutal but rewarding, I loved my time!
