So a rogue-like with fast paced, solid combat? Yes please.
The character designs are great, the builds you can make varied and the combat... Did I mention the combat?

That being said. There is not a lot of randomization here as one would first assume. It doesn't take long until you recognize the maps and their shifting earths. After a while you will start to run the same routine over and over again, nothing challenges you outside of messing up with your dodges and your RNG drops. Even if the builds can be varied, it doesn't encourage enough experimentation and after enough hours the game might feel stale.

Even so, up until I reach that point (around 120 hours in), I had a blast playing and I am looking forward to more content (that I honestly wished was there from the start).

So first things off: I am one of those who has played this game for two years (on mobile) so keep this in mind that I have been through every single update for the game thus far.

Start the game and enter my invitation code: egvpeutq5gkgptttu for rewards we can all benefit from. A nice little boost to start you off.

This game is just that: meant for mobile. The PC port is not the most solid thing here. It has a lot of technical issues (as of this writing) like Xbox controllers not working, Nintendo Switch controllers constantly register movement inputs but Playstation controllers working fine. It also has Store issues where you can't purchase anything.

This is what people call a Smash clone, for better or worse, but it has its uniqueness to it. It is still a platform fighter but the characters are charming and each has their own gimmicks that require you to think a bit differently fighting each one on a higher level.

Stardust Warrior update is the largest one yet, and introduces a new Sticker system. This is much like Multiversus where you add stickers to buff certain moves and attributes for each character. These can be upgraded to increase their potency which is where the "Pay-2-Win" aspect comes from. Even if it is 1.2% higher damage, it can make a difference when it comes to a higher level of players.

Despite its issues, I still enjoy it. It is (to me) the closest Smash clone they have for PC. Brawlhalla, Multiversus, Nickelodeon All Stars exist but I think they are even more different in terms of gameplay than this game. It has multiple game modes such as 1-1, 2-2 and even Teams (where two teams with three players each face each other), and of course Ranked Matches (1-1 and 2-2).

Some has also pointed out that this has a stamina system, which is false. The "stamina" is just a Nova (currency) giver. You earn Nova by playing games, and you get a boost on these with this "stamina" people speak of. It does not stop you from playing the game at all.

I do enjoy this, and still do despite its flaws. I just hope XD will do a more consistent job at fixing these issues. It has to truly feel like a proper platform fighter without the technical hurdles.

[EDITED]
The issues mentioned above are now fixed

Dark Souls, but better? Really?

Well, has some similarities, but way different in execution.
Different weapon types all have the same movesets, so an Odatchi, regardless of the type of Odatchi, all has the same movesets, which you unlock with using said weapon type. The game is based around areas, missions and loot. A fun co-op experience that can be just as much fun as it can be frustrating for the right reasons.

Early Access Review
Metal Unit is quite a fun rouge-like game where action, timing and weapons make every new playthrough different. Six categories that ranged from common to legendary drops all over four different hub worlds where you go to eliminate all enemies on each stage while trying to find hidden rooms and loot, to solve easy to difficult puzzles only to be rewarded with amazing tools for your arsenal with quite an interesting story.

Soul Calibur as always been a pinnacle of fighting games with its 8-way run mechanics and weapon-combat. Memorable characters and iconic music. From the developers behind Tekken, you can make sure that this is a game to own. Not only that, but the Create-A-Soul (Character Creation) is one of its most attractive features. Seeing your own character fighting against other legendary souls, Geralt being one of them as well as 2B (as DLC).
