I've never played a SaGa game before, but the demo convinced me to get the full game. Gameplay is solid, with a turn-based system similar to something like Octopath Traveler. The formations let you change how characters are arranged so that they're less likely to be hit by AoE attacks, and lets you designate who's on tank duty (among other bonuses). There's a lot of character classes (and some of them are definitely better than others), but you are incentivized to try them all out because of how the trait system works.
The overarching story is very simple since your main character will regularly be changing, and it kind of expects you to fill in the blanks with your own imagination, which I didn't mind. Part of this is because the game is designed to be very non-linear, and you can't get everything in one playthrough, so do yourself a favor and play your first run without a guide for the most enjoyable experience.
Graphics-wise, the game looks fine; it sort of reminds me of DQ11. There's a really ugly motion blur filter turned on by default, and I highly recommend that you look up the INI file settings that let you turn it off.
Overall, this is a very easy game to recommend.

A blast to play, even if you're a Metroidvania first-timer like me.

Enjoyable JRPG fare with a good combat system and enjoyable characters. The story's nice and is apparently all a buildup to the second chapter.

Pros:
- The two protagonists are likeable, and are fleshed out throughout the course of the story.
- Turn-based combat with reasonable depth.
- The orbment system can add depth to gameplay, but mastering it isn't required to beat the game.
- 50+ hours of gameplay, without too much grinding.
- New Game +
- Excellent localization.

Cons:
- Can be buggy depending on what hardware you're running.
- It's a port of a fairly old game, so the graphics might seem dated.
- Some of the supporting characters can be grating.
- Limited flexibility in party composition until the endgame.

A great throwback to the golden age of adventure games; Broken Age is proof positive that the old genre still has some life in it. The art style is absolutely gorgeous; it's like a pop-up book come to life. The story is tightly written, and is one of the best examples of storytelling in gaming. The game is quite funny, but that's to be expected from the minds behind Psychonauts and Brutal Legend.
As for difficulty, the game isn't too hard by adventure game standards. Generally speaking, most puzzle solutions are logical, and only a few managed to stump me. The dual protagonist setup is well thought-out; if you get bored with a protagonist, or fed up with his/her current puzzle, you can easily switch back to the other protagonist for a change of pace. My only complaint is that the game is a bit on the short side, and being an adventure game, the replay value is limited. Of course, that could change with the release of Part 2 later this year (which will be available as a free update), but the game is definitely worth buying in its current state.
