This game is S tier for so many reasons.

The community - no matter where you look, YouTube, Reddit, Discord, the DRG community is the most heartwarming and inclusive thing I have seen on the internet for quite a while when it comes to a game's fan base.

Servers being hosted by the lobby owner - making the game playable even if the developers decide to stop working on the game.

Inbuilt modding support - keeps the game alive and interesting and engages the community, letting people tweak the game to their liking. (Approved mods only disable achievements but don't stunt level progression, don't like how something plays? Fix it with a mod!)

The UI - While nothing revolutionary, there are so many small things they decided to put into the game that really go a long way. If you're not certain what a specific mission modifier does, you can simply look it up by clicking on it, the game will directly take you to the corresponding explanation/info section. This more or less in-built wiki can tell you everything you will need to get started, from the monsters that spawn in certain regions to a rough idea of what all the modifiers do. (For the specific values you'll have to go to the actual wiki though.)

Sure the entire Space Rig is a lot to take in at first, but learning what all the terminals do and where they are located is also explained in the manual/wiki/tutorial section that can be accessed from everywhere in the Rig by pressing ESC.

Also a very minor yet amazing feature is the intuitive menu navigation, more often than not I caught myself trying to go back in a menu by pressing RMB in other games after having played DRG. In my mind it makes so much more sense to press LMB to confirm or select something and have RMB to go back/close/up a menu layer. (ESC still works if you're used to that.)

A pro consumer progression system - everything you need is obtained by simply playing the game, it doesn't force you into any specific play style to unlock stuff.

You're not forced to play on higher difficulties for any unlocks besides achievements either, so if you're not comfortable on the highest difficulty it is perfectly fine to play on Hazard 3 for example. (Playing on higher difficulties still gets higher rewards, but it's not too drastic of a difference.)

Failing a mission also won't send you back to the space rig with a whole lot of nothing but your time wasted, if you do fail a mission, you still end up getting a good majority of the XP and credits and some of the crafting minerals you acquired playing the mission. This game rewards you for the time you put into it.

Prestige is purely cosmetic after the first time for each dwarf and even then it doesn't send you back to square one.

DLC is all cosmetic - only exists to allow you to further support the developers.

Simplistic art style - very simple yet gorgeous graphics which when combined how the level generation is done results in a minimal size for such an amazing game. (Also it should basically run on just about any low end system with a dedicated GPU.)

No time gated content - besides very specific cosmetics like anniversary hats, all seasonal cosmetics you missed in the previous season of the game can be obtained by simply playing the game.

An easily accessible config file - this might be a bit more niche, but surely I am not the only one who wants to cap their FPS to a specific number or precisely dial in their mouse sensitivity. (You don't need to make the config read-only, lets say you cap the game manually at 255 FPS while the in-game slider only goes up to 244, unless you touch that setting in-game, the custom value will stick.)

Those are just a few of the reasons why I admire this game and the GSG Team.

I will update this review as other reasons come to mind, but this is all I can think of off the top of my head right now.

Keep up the great work GSG and Rock and Stone brothers!

There might be some issues that require some polishing, some nicks that need to be ironed out.

But to see [trello.com] the devs are actively working squishing a majority of problems, if they haven't done so already, keeps my hopes high.

Might be a steep price, but on the other hand it's very easy to lose track of time playing this game with a few friends.

If you're a fan of CO-OP PvE shooters you might wanna give it a shot or pick it up on sale. I was skeptical at first, especially after a beta that didn't really convince me, but a friend told me to give it a shot and she was right. Very grindy and enjoyable game.
