I am a US Navy Veteran that has a HUGE PASSION for Aircraft of many types. I prefer the fixed wing type except for gliders. I was in the US Navy straight out of High School for 4 years and 5 months and I would do it all over again if I wasn't married and had the chance. I was in the Air Department and worked in the Hangar Bay V-3 Division while on board the USS Midway CV-41. Then I was stationed at Miramar when it was the Naval Air Station
(which is now Miramar Marine Air Station). I was at Miramar for 3 months attached to VF-24 Renegades Squadron which flew the F-14A/A+ Tomcats. That is when I forund out that I passed the 3rd Class/E-4 exam for ABH3. So when I found that out I also found out that there were no ABH ratings in the squadron. That meant that I had to go back to an aircraft carrier. This is when I received orders to report to the USS Independence CV-62. While on the Independence, I was in the Air Department but this time I was in V-1 Division which was on the flight Deck. Now, I have been out of the Navy for 25+ years and still have the passion for aircraft, I guess it is in my blood from when I was very young, as my profile picture shows. I have been into R/C aircraft since 1992 plus flying on the Computer Flight Sims for quite some time now also. the R/C aircraft and Flight Sims are all hopes that maybe, just maybe, I would someday be able to receive my Private Pilot Certificate as in my dreams and just like both, my father and step father did. I can say now that I have flown in aircplanes as a child, worked around aircraft while in the Navy and then after the Navy I worked at the KMSP International airport, and flying now R/C and on the computer. I have taken some lessons for the real thing but there was always something else more important that I had to do, so I had no choice but to leave my dream.
LIKE I SAID, IT IS IN MY BLOOD!!
