I do not recommend this game for it's full price. When you can get it in a sale below 20 bucks I think it is an alright purchase. But when you haven't played the other games of the series yet I would recommend to start with the older ones like Symphonia or Vesperia.

Let's start with the easiest thing the graphics are by far the best of the series so far.
The soundtrack is alright but in my opnion it can't compete with the older games.

I don't know why this game should count as an open world game. You have plot areas and filler areas with loading screens between every single area plus fast travel.
The filler areas are pretty boring, you have a couple of those between every plot section but they do not really feel worth exploring.
Not as bad as Tales of Beserias area designs but still a lot of wasted potential.
(It is extremely sad that they got rid of the old school overworld that Symphonia & Vesperia had.)

The mob variety is one of the worst, maybe even the worst in the series. I think I haven't even seen 10 different types of regular monsters in total. In most cases you get different color patterns or slightly altered versions of mobs like the wolves that you see in pretty much every area you visit just in a different colour.

The combat system is one of the better things in this game, it is not top notch combat but still easy to pick up and it does not get boring.
Sadly the mob variety and that all mobs got way to much HP removes a good amount of the fun. After a while you really just try to dodge all random encounters because they take way to long.

The characters in this game are forgettable. Most character arcs feel rushed except for Alphen and Shionnes and those were stretched way to much... with way to many cutscenes and skits that felt repetitive. Law might be the most pretictable and annoying character in the game and I easily rank him Top 5 worst "Tales of" Characters of all time. Kisara felt like a background NPC since she was just repeting what the others were saying after she joined.
Rinwell and Dohalim were the only two characters that I kinda liked and Dohalim had a pretty alright character arc for himself. Rinwell got sidelined way to quickly after she has a moment and that multiple times.

Overall I would say this game is more fun than Zestiria and Beseria,
but struggles in way to many areas like the previous two mentioned to be even considered close to the titles from the early 2000's like Tales of Symphonia, Tales of Vesperia, Tales of the Abyss etc

When you haven't played the older ones I would try those first.

Early Access Review
After unlocking all current achievements, I can 100% say that I will recommend this game.

A well made cell shading style combined with catchy music is always a good base.
In terms of performance I never had crashes, stutters or any kind of error during my 20+ hours of playtime.
FPS were never dropping so I had fluid gameplay the whole time.

The combat is standing out here, it is very easy to learn,
and with the amount of weapon/trinket and gift combinations
you can do many runs just testing which build is better or which piece suits your style better.

The difficulties are fair, I haven't had a situation were I felt it was to difficult.
Know your build, know the enemies, don't get greedy and you are good to go.
I am currently at the "Stormy" difficulty and I am good,
mistakes and greed are getting punished harder with each new difficulty you unlock.

Even with only four stages available at the time of this review,
the game never felt boring or repetitive.
The level parts getting radomized every run
and after 20+ hours of gameplay I still enjoy every new run I do.

This early access is a good start and I hope the dev's keep pushing with this one,
the gameplay is already top notch and with more stuff to come I have high hopes.
More story would be great as well.

Originally I wanted to give this game a 9/10,
but I can play as a bat...
I can play as a bat with a magic fire staff and a pirate canon that sounds like a grenade launcher.
10/10

Probs to Motion Twin

That's it from me

Peace

I stopped playing this game because it simply is not fun once you reach the endgame and start with pretty much endless grinding because there is nothing else to do in this game.

Normally I am not against grinding in games, when you grind towards something that actually feels worth it. In this game you grind to get characters and weapons, that you can farm other characters and weapons faster by doing pretty much the same content again just faster.
Then when you have the character or weapon, you grind to make it better by grinding again for upgrade materials and in many cases you even farm the same contents over and over again just to do the same again once this character or weapon is done and you move to the next one.
Or you have to farm for a character because this character has one ability that you need to farm something specific like Sharen for example, so what if I do not want to play Sharen ? Well good luck getting those specific Amorphus Materials.

The best thing about this game is the combat combined with the movement, I did not play all characters but every single character I played [Jayber, Ult. Bunny & Ghley, Lepic, Frenya, Enzo] was fun to try out and get used to.

The story is nothing special, after a while I started skipping because I lost interest in all the generic dialogs and when you are not "slapping the serpent" to some of the character models I see no way to get attached to any of them.

The cash shop is another argument against this game, everything is overpriced and with the endless grind they try to force you to buy either the characters or the upgrade materials to avoid countless hours of monotone repetitive grinding. I bought 2 Ultimate Decendents myself to skip the boring grind. But in the end what did I get ? Just two more characters that had to be upgraded by grinding the same content again just to start farming for the next weapon or character afterwards.
I know that they have to make money somehow, but there are better ways than going full scammy sammy mode.

Without a story and content that keep people playing even after they geared up I see no reason to keep playing this game at all, which is pretty sad because I really enjoyed the beta's and the launch of the game. But at it's current state it's just your average google play store waifu collector with good combat gameplay managed by Nexon....

This game was one of my most wanted games for I don't know how long.

Now I am done with the story and on my way to 100% it and I can say.....
It was worth waiting for this game for so long.

Gameplay:
I played the demo at different states and even the first demo showed that this games combat will be clean.
Now with the full release it is even better, the combat is fluid, the animations and the sound effects are crispy and I never felt any negative impact from the game itself. It is simple and straightforward gameplay... simply fun.

Soundtrack:
I think I never had a main theme of a game living in my head rent free for more than year before it's game was actually releasing. I even listen to it while I write this review. There was not a single track of the OST that I did not like. Tastes might be different but heck yeah I love this OST it gives this game so much unique personality.

Story & Characters:
Speaking of personality even when this games story is pretty short the characters got way more personality than the majority of AAA characters these days. I really feel the love of the dev's for this game and I really hope the scene when you get access to Y's room is a teaser for a DLC cause I really want to play more.

This franchise has huge potential and deserves to be expanded. Dev's when you read this...keep up and give us more I am sure I am not the only one who would love to see way more Gori in the future.

That's it from me

After 100%'ing the game:

I recommend this game to anyone who wants to sit back and have a good time.

This game is packed with a ton of different jokes and easter eggs that makes it worth to look around everywhere and get surprised over and over again.
I randomly found so many funny things I did not expect and with all the different activities the gameplay never gets boring.
The story is super simple and never takes itself seriously but still works.

I can feel the passion from the dev's through the whole game and I hope they continue with this genre or even with the franchise itself. I played it for almost 40 hours and would love to play more in form of DLC or other titles.

That's it from me

Peace

The first impression might be good, but currently I can't recommend this game...

One of the main reasons why I got this game is the multiplayer mode.
I had no problems playing through the first chapters with a friend, but the infinity mode is pretty much unplayable in later stages of the round. The game crashes or pretty much lags so hard that you end the round by yourself cause it is not enjoyable anymore.

Crashes happen in single player in the infinity mode quite a lot. They happen pretty randomly even when I run performance friendly builds. I do not think it is an hardware issue cause I am running this on a 3090ti and an i9.

There is no real reason to aim for the top of the leaderboards
cause there you meet your average cheat engine friends.

The most exhausting thing about this game... the weapon crates:

In this game it feels more like an MMO grind when you want to play the infinity mode with your weapon of choice.
It really can be that you have to reset your round more than just a couple of times just to get the weapon that you want to try out. (This can take hours)
Besides a large amount of pretty much useless items there is no guarantee for legendary weapons in crates per round.
The reason why this type of game is so enjoyable for many people is the variety of builds you can try out which this game blocks with it's weapon crate machanic.

The good things:

The map is great, even after multiple rounds of playing the map still does not get boring and I hope it gets expanded in the future.

The weapon variety feels good so far, but it would be much better if all the useless low rarity weapons would get upgraded so that we would have a lot more to try.

The character perks are great and they give a lot of room for creative weapon/talent combos.

What I would change / add:

Changing the "Luck Statue" when you get the weapon perk it should guarantee a legendary weapon.

Improving multiplayer stability.

More different music tracks for the map.

Reworking the weapon crates

I like this game but for now it needs some improvements then I would love to change my review later on.

"Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart" is a game that I would 100% recommend.

As a long time fan of the series who plays Ratchet & Clank since I was a kid when the first game released onto PS2 in 2002, I can recommend this game to pretty much anyone.

Even when you haven't played any other Ratchet & Clank game before,
you will understand everything, but when you have played the older games you will enjoy this game even more.

The game looks beautiful, it plays very smoothly, the gameplay stays fun even after multiple playthroughs and new characters like Rivet & Kit and all the new side characters like the Morts & Trudi for example are very likeable and overall great additions to the franchise.

The difficulties are also well balanced,
I played on the hardest difficulty and it never really felt unfair.

I played on a "Samsung G9 Odyssey" (5120x1440p Resolution)
Powered by a Geforce 3090ti GPU & Intel I9-12900KS CPU

Even with everything fully maxed out the game never dropped below 90 FPS
and I never experienced anything negative like lags or crashes.

The overall performance is like the game as a whole... simply great. 10/10

And now please give us all the previous Ratchet & Clank games on steam as well.

I have been playing this game since 2011, when it came out for PS3 and XB360.
It is my favorite fighting game by far
and the game I invested the biggest amount of time in.
Sure for new players the game is hard to understand,
but for a gamer who loves to learn and enjoys the roster of this game like I do, it is perfect.
Since Capcom works with Marvel again, I went back to the game and enjoying it as I did before.

So when you enjoy fighting games and got patience with your characters try it.
