The game looks ok and has a lot of things you can do, but I haven't found anything enjoyable to do. No reward in anything and no motivation to try different things.

The UI feels unnecessarily overwhelming. Flying the ship is finicky. Took me a few hours to get used to the controls.
And I constantly felt like I had no idea how to do a specific task. I was confused when I saved a settlement, but nothing happened.

The multiplayer aspect could have saved it. Sadly, my experience was that people just shot at you or entirely ignored you. Right from the get-go.
At one time, I was curious about what is underwater and checked. Shortly, I realized that you can't stay underwater for too long. So I came back up to witness a guy trying to bury my ship on the shore.

I wanted this game for years! Now that there was a free weekend, I'm glad I tried it out, so I know it is not for me.

If you're into visual novels, then sure, this could be a good experience. Personally, I've come to realize that visual novels aren't really my thing, but I have to admit, this one is on the better side.

Achievement hunters be aware! No online players for the online achievements so these are might be uncompletable. And the ones that require to be completed on specific days can not be cheated by setting your local time to a specific date!

Otherwise, the game is not fun. Thin roads and tight corners, and every collision is super bumpy and sends you flying. The AI has no mercy. If you get behind, there is no way to catch up!

This is a short and easy shooter. However, the emphasis is not precisely on shooting but on solving some straightforward environment puzzles to get to the trapped people and help them.
Completing the achievements will need some patience, but they aren't too hard.

I would say it is worth the money. If you are not a completionist and try to keep the 1$/hour rule, then try to grab it at around 5$. Or maybe look into the bundles.

Early Access Review
They don't take keyboard layout into account. Had to rebind flashlight.
The tutorial says something about a belt and 'X' to open it but 'X' doesn't do anything.
'ESC' is so hard to hit to get out of the opened container menu.

And of the hour I played, I managed to got into 3 games. Where I died immediatly do to other players. I spent a lot of time waiting in queue to get into just a lobby. While you can't do anything, not even exit the game.

In the first room, I went through almost all my bullets on the AIs and 'R' didn't reload like in the tutorial. I have no idea why or what happened.

In sum, I couldn't get any fun out of this game in a whole hour, hence the thumbs down.

This game is the first of the main series, so you must play it, right? Right?
Rant ON:
I saw other people having trouble playing it and giving bad reviews with a pretty nasty tone. Shame on you! The devs have nothing to do with the problems. This is an old game and not compatible with Win 10. As far as I know, it is more like a legal problem.
Rant OFF.

The problem is with the mouse, which only wiggles on the screen and is unusable. The solution to this problem is already in the download. It's just not set up well on steam.
You need to run DxWnd, add the game, and enable some mouse options. You can find a guide in the forums. (Learn to Google and read, Zoomers!) Although I would suggest using a more recent version that also has support for inerting mouse axes.
You must run the game from DxWnd. That's it!

I have to note that, pretty frequently, the cursor will stuck as if it hit a wall. Just move it in the opposite direction, and it unlocks.

Also, there are some crashes that you need to be prepared for - as in save often. They happen after cutscenes which trigger a load screen.
And sometimes, when you load back a save. I didn't find this too annoying.

As for the actual review:
Basically, it's a hidden item game. You always have a door to unlock and need to find items for it. This involves immense pixel-hunting, which can be annoying as you don't know what you are searching for.
The game is 3D, as each room has some points you can teleport to and look around 360°. VR players are probably familiar with this. :)
Sometimes you encounter basic kids' puzzles, and sometimes you need to solve a riddle that refers to something you have read before.
To avoid confusion: Everything you need to solve the level is somewhere on that level! Although, the item use is not always logical.

I loved the story, the cutscenes are ok, and the voice acting is top notch :). If you want to play through the series, I'd say, don't miss out on this one! It's free. And have patience, this is not an action game!

Edit: just for correctness. I have 10+ hours in the game. But it needs to be run seperately from Steam so it won't count it...

Very nice story, I love the art and sounds. It is also a good concept. Like how you handle the guns and the foes are attracted to gun shots. It feels a bit half finished though - some stuff just there but don't make sense.

So why I don't recommend. Bugs! Enemies keeps reappearing, sometimes you shoot someone and you die, and the game crashes a lot not finding an object. Takes away all the fun! Even the map shows the texture repeating on the edge. This game was never played by anyone prior to release. And what is worse, there is a DLC, so they actually never have an intention to fix these.

I have played through both the main game and the DLC. I would have some hours of fun if I didn't have to redo levels so many times because of the crashes. Also the DLC is just insanely hard.

Same as the first one. Nice graphics, well made environment. Puzzles are easy, but enjoyable. Just enough story.
And while 3 hours is not a lot, it's just enough fun of a puzzle game like this. Give it a try! Meet you after the third one.

This is a well designed game! You actually get every basic mechanic in the book in the right order. And I love the story and presentation. The sound the characters make while talking will get to your nerves quick, though.

For those who say it's easy, It is, kinda. You need to use your powers the right way to feel god-like. And did you done the Orchestra? That is the most difficult thing invented in video game history. I kinda hate that that is there.

And for those who say they expected 3D platforming like in Crash or Jak & Dexter, you are right, sort of. The description claims that, but the game hasn't got any platforming like activity. You just hold forward and it's automatically done. I love that! I played Wexx and the like and I was there when the games started to become 3D and I just DON'T want any of that confusion! This is chill and relax and full of entertainment.

The only bugs I have encountered is the game starts up only like the 2nd or 3rd time, and it diappeares when you click out of it. Maybe I saw some visual glitching in the shadows once. Other than that, it's solid!

The rails, yeah you won't go through some of them the first try. You need to learn the pattern. But the respawn point is always just before you hop on them. And this is true for most of the game, so there is no huge penalty for trying things.

Over all, this was an enjoyable experience after the brain breaking logic puzzles and rage inducing platformer games I play most of the time on PC. Thank you!

This game is good, play it! :)

I like the art style and the music. It really makes the mood. Puzzles are not arranged by hardness or anything. So, you can face a wall at any time. But the humor makes up for that.

First time I played through, it was like 4 hours. And now 10 ~years later when we have achievements, it was again ~4-5 hours.
