Intro
Curious about extraction shooters but overwhelmed by the intense first-person options out there? Zero Sievert might be the perfect alternative. Inspired by *Escape from Tarkov*, Zero Sievert is a top-down, area extraction shooter set in a bleak, post-apocalyptic Eastern European landscape , immersing players in a world where surviving means braving irradiated forests, abandoned cities, and hostile factions.

While inspired by the hardcore realism of *Escape from Tarkov*, Zero Sievert simplifies the experience with a more accessible, top-down perspective without losing the thrill of high-stakes exploration and extraction.

Prepare to manage your health and base, scavenge and purchase unique weapons, and face off against ghouls, bandits, and even the irradiated wildlife lurking in this world. If you’re interested but not yet convinced, here are my thoughts on a few aspects of the game.
Gameplay - 7/10
The core gameplay revolves around tense, high-stakes exploration and extraction. You can also expect a moderate level of weapon customization with different attachments and ammo types, gear tiers, and meticulous inventory and health management. The main gameplay loop involves dropping into dangerous zones, scavenging for valuable loot, and making a tense (or sometimes uneventful) escape before it’s too late.

Zero Sievert is primarily designed for mouse and keyboard gameplay. While controller support is available, it feels less intuitive especially when interacting with your inventory, making portable play on devices like the Steam Deck possible but occasionally frustrating.

Though its mechanics and gameplay loop are highly engaging, the lack of seamless controller support and some limitations in customization and portability prevent it from reaching its full potential.
Visuals - 7/10
While the top-down perspective acts as a huge limitation in graphics, it gets back by excelling in creating a cohesive and immersive atmosphere. The game’s pixel art style is simple yet effective, with each area offering a distinct visual identity. This attention to detail ensures that it feels diverse and engaging, while clear visual cues make it easy to differentiate between factions and threats.
Music and Sound Design - 8/10
Sound design plays an important role as it is the main immersion pulling factor in pulling players into a tense and atmospheric world. Every sound, from the crunch of footsteps in the forest to the echoing gunfire inside bandit buildings, feels deliberate and impactful. The audio cues not only add weight to the world, but also provide critical information for your survival.
Technical Performance - 9/10
Thanks to the simplicity of the game, it runs flawlessly on many systems, making it an excellent choice even for players with older hardware.

My personal experience on the Steam Deck, running Linux with the Proton Layer, was seamless. Not once did I encounter a crash, and load times were consistently quick. Even during action-packed moments, the game maintained a stable FPS.
Conclusion - 8/10
With all that said, if you’re looking for a fresh take on the extraction shooter game, Zero Sievert offers an accessible yet deeply engaging experience with its tense gameplay, immersive sound design, and excellent performance. Whether you’re a seasoned fan or new to the genre, this post-apocalyptic adventure is surely worth your time. Give it a go, and you might just find your next obsession.

I get 1 hit by every single boss in the game as a sorcerer. Good game, will try again.

(Sorcery is a lot more balanced than you think. Faith, Dex, and Faith Dex builds are the real ones that are broken. [Ash of wars too!])

Also, plz fix boss regain health for no reason when damaging them t-t
