I absolutely love this game and I want to see it prosper. It is definitely up here with one of my favorite games...

Unfortunately, in its current state, with its current development team (unless they finally learn), I cannot recommend this game to my friends, despite how much I want to.

This game has gotten some bloat, and has seen its ups and downs, but the developers behind this game just seem utterly incompetent and... split apart.

Most of the workload of the team is, apparently, being given to other companies (contractors), and I would have no problem with it if it didn't have bad enemies like the War Strider. What the team does right now, primarily, is balancing. I am not against balancing in PVE games if its designed to make something more fun and usable, but in this its the opposite. The balancing is utterly incompetent! The studio uses "monkey paw" balancing practices where they appear to buff and fix something, and then nerf it back by buffing the enemy (for example, the most recent exosuit patch). Silent debuffs and buffs that are not mentioned in patch notes to take certain changes behind the player's back. Greedy/predatory practices: an F2P monetization model for a premium 40$ game (and don't get me started on "you can just farm it!", not everyone has so much time), buffs for things included in new warbond to get more people to buy it (since Entrenched Division had a heavy flamethrower in it, and the flame buffs were needed for a very long time. Now, with every new warbond, a certain buff like this also rolls out) and so on. The game is riddled with bugs and glitches that tend to ruin the experience, with new ones appearing every content release and going unfixed for a VERY, VERY Long time (for example the City defense missions were supposed to make the city actually look lived in rather than occupied by the enemy, and it took them around 11 months to FINALLY fix such a small bug.) The game now tends to instantly crash and quit out for me after the recent updates after Cyberstan from different random things, and my friend can't launch it at all. I am genuinely afraid of making my friends and relatives disappointed from just how technically broken this game is.

I genuinely could go on.

It really, REALLY feels like this indie studio was given basically EVERYTHING. A game that blew up immediately with tons of players, multi-billion dollar companies backing it like Sony and Tencent, wealth and everything. And yet, it's almost like they're intentionally trying to just ruin and lose it all again, after winning anything they could ever want.

And for the last, this studio, unfortunately, is absolutely deaf to its playerbase, no matter what they say or do. Until things start looking up again and until the studio actually starts caring about the game and its players, this review will stay that way.

This is a sandbox that can be shaped into any game you would ever want, and it is absolutely amazing for that. You can do absolutely anything from messing around with the sandbox and building contraptions to participating in Roleplay servers. You can turn this into a horror game, a realistic shooter, an arcade shooter, anything. If you can think of it, it is possible in Garry's Mod.

Thank you, Garry, for creating so many memories for me.
