I really enjoyed this game in the first couple of seasons, even if the game felt really unbalanced and there were obvious meta perks, made worse by the fact that even getting any ability is left up to a Gacha mechanic. Getting to play as the Raider can take a good hour just to get 1 match because of the flex system. Every match you aren't the raider you get an increase in priority, but it typically isn't your turn until you hit 4+.

It's now Season 6 and so much of the game has changed, which wouldn't be so bad if they did any sort of balance patching between seasons besides releasing new Transpheres. The last few raiders have felt pretty broken, especially with nerfs to survivor abilities and half of them not even using the Dragonball mechanic anymore. It feels like the game was abandoned by the devs or is on the verge of being sunset. They focus more on microtransactions more than anything else. It's a shame it took them so long to add crossplay, but now the community seems to be mostly high level players who stomp anybody that isn't dedicated to the game, and leave you to die because it's safer for their own survival.

I really want to continue to enjoy the game, but unless something changes with the dev support I don't see that happening anymore.

If you played the first two Lost Planet games, don't expect anything like either of them. An entirely different studio made the game, and took it from being a (co-op) action shooter with giant monsters, to trying really hard to make it some sort of man vs nature survival horror cover shooter.

I think if it weren't attached to the Lost Planet IP, it would have stood a chance as a very mid third person shooter of the era, but due to it being a sequel, it makes the janky controls and animations even worse. There's a reason people joke that it's Low Budget Dead Space but Cold.

The game is roughly only 2 hours long, but it was a very enjoyable 2 hours. The jokes were funny, I appreciated that you get some extra laughs or good feels out of letting the timers run out sometimes. If you just mashing No as soon as someone approaches you're going to miss out on a good chunk of the game's charm. Didn't expect to get the warm n fuzzies by the end.

Its very telling of your community when you get review bombed for being transphobic devs, and suddenly your positive reviews are full of mask off transphobia

Trans rights are human rights.

The game started out on Discord, got very little support to begin with, had a late release to Steam, still with little support. It got a slight bump in player base when it came over, but without dev support it quickly died back off. It was super unbalanced and they could never seem to find the sweet spot.

I enjoyed the game, but you'd be wasting your money if you bought now. The only person left to work on the game is the company founder, so the game is basically just on life support for a barely existent fan base. Can't play a multiplayer game without players...

Early Access Review
This is easily a game that's tons of fun with friends. The best comparison I've heard to give an idea of how it plays is a mix between Bomberman and Smash Bros. You die by falling off the map into the water/lava, and bombs stun and knock you back, as well as the baseball bat. It has a mechanic similar to the Bomberman ghosts that you can throw bombs from the outside of the arena, and if you get a kill then you swap places.

The default maps are all pretty varied and lots of fun. Each map has various blocks that have different effects, from stick blocks that you can jump up the side of, to ice blocks that do exactly what you think.
In my experience, the more items the better, cause that adds to the chaos (and fun) of a match. You've got some fun/silly, like a Spirit Bomb that gives you Super Saiyan hair, or a Baseball that makes a big explosion and can be hit away, and the ones to avoid like the chain bomb. The real fun comes with all of those power ups stacking, where if a person runs around and hoardes power ups, they can create one massive clusterf*** of a bomb.

I've you've got a group of friends and love the chaos of Bomberman games, this is easily worth it, especially with the 4-pack being $5 a copy.

Like any roguelike, it all depends on how much RNGesus is pleased with your sacrifice. Some runs you just can't catch a break. Some runs you're broken as hell and it's the most beautiful thing ever. There's also a fair bit of strategy involved in resource management and what upgrades you'll need first.

I started playing this game for an hour or so and then when I quit I had the music stuck in my head and found myself scrolling through the internet to the beat.

10/10

You should all buy this game because reasons. Reasons like because it's awesome. Don't ask why.

Ok but seriously, the game plays a lot like a mix of Metal Slug/Contra mixed with Monster Hunter. You can craft your weapons and put together seperate pieces of different guns to create your own weapon (or you could be lame and just stick with a standard set too, but that's lame. Who doesn't want an SMG with the bonus of a sniper rifle's distance and accuracy?) and you rank up by going on missions in the same way that you do in Monster Hunter.

IT'S A SUPER FUN GAME AND YOU SHOULD ALL GO BUY IT TO SHOOT DUDES.
