I don't use Steam for GW2 but it's a good place to leave a review.

I absolutely recommend this game. There are limitations and restrictions with the free version if you're interested in checking out the game without being disillusioned that you should have rights to all expansions by default without paying. With the free, you have no mount, can't do a good number of things, but are able to play through the core story, but you should know well before you finish it whether or not you're willing to buy the expansions.

The expansions are not perfect, including the ones that have been out for years. Bugs exist still, never have been fixed and probably won't be fixed at this point (I'm looking at you HoT).

The gameplay itself is fun, but can be overwhelming at first. This is not a WoW clone and has more differences than it does similarities. Playing one mmorpg doesn't really matter about your ability to immediately play your character well. You might suck, and that's okay. A lot of the in-game community is actually really helpful. Toxic people are everywhere, no escape, but for hundreds upon hundreds of hours, I have encountered very few. I block them and move on with my life.

You can be in up to 6 guilds. You can play with a lot of people and do a lot of things. There is no traditional questing or quest log. You meet criteria to progress in stories and can switch story lines at any point of the ones you own.
The spells are flashy and can feel disorienting at times (personal opinion), but I adjust a lot of graphic settings to help. There's just a lot of noise and then I lose focus. Really my only complaint about active gameplay, excluding bugs, but again, that's a forever problem everywhere. I'd like to see more effort from Anet to fix them (they won't).

I enjoy the stories. I played WoW for 10 years and couldn't tell you a single thing about the lore in that game. I actually follow the stories in GW2. Deaths, twists, progressions, etc, I find this game to be more comfortably immersive than any other game I've played. I'm not a big lore person in general, so I personally give this marks because it caught my interest from the beginning, despite the fact I got here late. I played a lot of GW1, and there's a good amount of story rollover into 2. It's 2, but knows its roots.

Again, the in-game community is usually pretty good and fun. There's always something to do, mentors and whatever inform map chat what event they're doing so it can be more inclusive.

Dungeons and raids aren't heavily done anymore. Haven't been. They've been replaced by other things but I still like to do them because they're there, so I am, too. I may not get the best of the best stuff, but I just like to do things with friends, and GW2 gives us the ability to play together at any time, do almost anything we feel like, and that's really the whole point.

For the graphics, it looks more intensive than it actually is yet it looks better than most competitors, from character models to world models.

I listen to the full GW2 OST constantly. Personally, I think it has one of the most amazing OST - even if I didn't like the game, I'd like the music (Elder Scrolls Online has good music, too, the game just sucks). The books are pretty good, too (Ghosts of Ascalon, Edge of Destiny, Sea of Sorrows) if you like to read - they bridge story gaps to GW2.

A lot of this game forces time-intensive progression. Do certain events, talk to x-amount of people and wait for full unskippable discussions to finish, etc. There's not a lot of instant gratification in this game which is good in my opinion, and everything requires some amount of work, whether 5 minutes or 2+ weeks.

If you want a "give me something now" game, keep looking. But if you come into GW2 with an open mind and willingness to both look up information and ask for help sometimes, find yourself a good guild and the game will be completely transformed - the players bring the best parts of the game out for you to enjoy. And make sure your dialogue settings are up because there are a lot of great lines worth hearing and a lot of them will make you laugh.

and remember:
Wow, that's quality armor!
