TL;DR list at bottom.

At the time of writing this review I have merely only played about a lousy 5-10 hours, but the fact that this game has blown me away more than any other makes me very pumped to write this review for any lost souls out there who may be looking for the game of their life, and I am certain I have found mine. I know, I'm already furiously masturbating all over this hot piece of code called Warframe.

The gameplay is, at first, quite simple, but in a bigger picture it's actually really nice. You play as a Tenno, a space ninja of sorts. At the start of the game, you can choose between three different "Warframes" which basicly acts like classes in any other MMORPG. As you progress through the game, you can unlock blueprints to craft brand new classes, or, Warframes. Each and every Warframe are different from one another, ranging from their base stats to their unique set of skills. At the time, I belive there are over 30 different Warframes to unlock and play as.

There are two main things you will be doing in Warframe. Completing missions (either solo or with friends/random people) and grinding for components to craft your gear with. The missions in Warframe can vary from capture, defense, spying, escorting an NPC, kill a boss, or just simply reach the end of the map. It's all very fun and works well. The only downside with these missions is the NPC escort, because sometimes they tend to get stuck behind walls or they're just simply too stupid to find their way to you. This isn't really as big of problem I'm making it out to be, as when you've reached a long enough distance away from the NPC, they will teleport to you.

The enemies in Warframe are varied and a hell of a blast to slaughter through. In the beginning of the game, as in your first few hours, you'll be fighting the same robots for some time.

This game is NOT Pay2Win, as some would make it out to be. Yes, it's true that with "platinum" (the real money in-game currency) you can buy new weapons and Warframes with better stats than the base ones you start with, along with weird dog animal companion things... Yeah, I don't really know about that last one. Now this might sound very pay2win-ish, but trust me, the Pay2Win aspect in this game is mostly just for the lazy people out there. Everything that you can buy with real money in the Warframe Market apart from cosmetics can be crafted with regular in-game currency and materials. So, in the end, buying all that precious platinum is really just a way to speed things up, nothing else.

Of course, regular missions isn't the only part of the gameplay. You can play multiplayer gamemodes like Annihilation (free for all deathmatch), Team Annihilation (team deathmatch) and Cephalon Capture (4v4 capture the flag type of game). These three gamemodes are really fun to play, but you'll usually find yourself getting completely destroyed if you haven't upgraded your weapons and warframe first, haha. There are also challenges to these gamemodes which offer you extra experience upon completion which is a nice touch.

TL;DR: I'll just make a list of cons and pros.

Pros:
  • Tons of different unique Warframes (classes) to choose from
  • Tons of varied and cool weapons to craft, upgrade and level up
  • Hundreds of different weapon/character upgrades (Mods) to find
  • Really nice community, just ask and you shall recieve
  • Game is extremely well optimized, currently playing at 60-100 FPS on low-medium settings on a laptop
  • Never crashes and hardly ever drops in FPS
  • No game content is hidden behind a paywall apart from cosmetics which nobody cares about
  • Many differnt mission types and multiplayer gamemodes
  • Endless grinding for components to craft your weapons with isn't a chore at all, it's just fun
  • Tons of different planets with many missions each
  • Play solo (boring) or with friends/random people (fun)
  • Great voice acting
  • ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing and fun parkour
  • This pros list is already too long and I still haven't named all the good stuff

    Cons:
  • The game is just a tiny tad easy in the beginning, but really, it's fine, difficulty ramps up in mid-late game
  • No real fair multiplayer system, you may end up in a free for all game with a guy who has played 1 hour and one with 100 hours with high-end gear
  • Customization for your Warframe is limited. There are colors, and thats about it. You can purchase skins for Platinum (real life money) or by being lucky when completing mission events, however sometimes these can be a bit difficult for new players, me included
  • Can become a liiiitle bit repetetive some times. I just take a break for an hour and suddenly I am blasted away again
  • I mean, I really can't come up with anything else

Simply put, this game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing and it's the best F2P game I have ever played in my entire life so far. Download it ya speccy nerds!

One of the most fantastic games to be released - if you like the type of game this is.

Are you into games that can be really tough and unforgiving? Games where it's all about unlocking new things, defeating varied and exciting bosses, collecting hundreds of hilarious items? Games where your character can go from a crying boy with a coat hanger sticking through his head to a demonic laser-firing satan-worshipping flying demon in a second? Then this game is for you.

If you don't like any of what I just mentioned, then you'll probably find yourself quite annoyed with this game. If it's the other way around, then you'll have a blast playing this game.

I myself was reeeeally sceptical about buying this game. I had played the original Binding of Isaac (WOTL) for hundreds of hours and it was really fun. The only thing was that it was getting old and, to be honest, after playing Rebrith I just cant look at it the same way ever again. At first though, I was really scared that Rebirth would be a failed attempt at reviving an old, great game. Because when you're remaking a game that is already splendid, make one ♥♥♥♥-up with the gameplay and you've shat over the whole thing. To be completely honest - I even pirated Rebirth and played it for about 100~ hours before I realised that these devs really deserve my money, probably more than what I do. All I do is buy CS:GO skins with it either way.

So, I bought Rebirth. And with all these steam achievements, guides and just the community itself - I'm having a great time with the game.

It's really hard for me to come up with any cons about this game. The only thing that comes to mind is the lack of item combinations, but it's still better than what it was in the original.

BUY THIS GAME

Early Access Review
This is a game that is extremely fun to play with friends while it lasts. Unfortunently it doesn't last very long. I only got about 10 hours or so of the game before I got really bored of it. It's a really good game but for me it turned out to be one of those games you pick up when you are bored. I still recommend this game though!
