I wish I could rate this 'mid' because that's what it feels like lol.

It's a good fun little adventure if you're into Pokemon-style creature collecting. The Temtem designs are pretty nice and cute, although a little safe, and the different moves have beautiful animations.

The worst part of this game, by far, is the dialogue. The attempts at 'lol so random' humor and general NPC dialogue is as cringe as you can get, it actively detracts from the games story. I have so many hours in the game because I started a playthrough a few years ago, and gave up on the game because the dialogue was that bad and I couldn't take it anymore.

Give it a shot if you like Pokemon, but don't feel bad about putting it down early, it doesn't appear like there are any plans for meaningful additional content anyway.

An incredibly embarrassing return after a year of heads-down development. The gameplay and roster have issues but those are both subjective and I find myself enjoying both often so that's not particularly what I have an issue with. This game is exceptionally anti-player with absolutely baffling decisions that seem to come from whatever higher up executives are in charge. Plenty of features from the beta are straight up missing, the UI became more convoluted, the content in the game is drip-fed at such a staggeringly low rate that I am genuinely just baffled at who thought you could sustain a live-service fighting game this way.

I am actively hoping this game gets the changes it desperately needs so I can change this review to a positive one and I want nothing more than to make this my forever game that I am constantly playing and spending money on, but as of right now it seems hopeless to consider that a possibility. This concept of a WB fighting game is a slam dunk that *should* be a smash hit that became a huge viral moment in gaming, but this game (from the player's perspective) appears to be built on inauthentic grounds where the gameplay takes a backseat to how to mathematically increase player retention and profit.

Your players can tell when they're being played. They're not stupid. We deserve better.
