I played POE for about 40 hours initially. Years later I played POE 2, I have over 1K hours on that. I LOVED it. So after the recent league ended I decided to try POE again. Here's my review:

Clicking to move after being used to POE 2 was hard at first. BUT I got used to it. When comparing the 2 games, you realize they are identical in some ways. If you love POE 2 you will love POE.

There's more content, the crafting is more in depth comparatively. POE 2 is a baby with the content compared to POE.

Dopamine.

10/10, it's free why not try it.

Pros:
Long Campaign
Character Progression
Perks
An insanely large array of items (weapons, gear, potions, etc)
Open World, where anything you do has consequences
Engaging content

Cons:
Hard Combat (until you learn ripostes, but then you find yourself only attacking when defending which can
take time)
Funky targeting system in combat with multiple enemies.
Reputation (if someone random doesn't like you it stops your fast travel so you can see them run away and
scream)

Overall, would recommend! It's very fun and there's a ton of gameplay.

Best game in the entire world.
