Rough launch but the developers are constantly improving

Ori and the Will of the Wisps succeeds in combat, platforming, and story. If you want something that's pretty similar to Hollow Knight but different in its own right, give it a try.

starting the game on nightmare mode definitely made it more fun. I feel like if it was any easier it wouldn't feel rewarding whatsoever. I finished the game in about 18 hours on nightmare and am working on getting every achievement :D

Nostalgia boner :D

Pros:

- The combat feels so clean. It is very fun to mess around with different builds and play styles throughout the entire game.

- Steel Soul mode feels amazing after completing everything else the game has to offer.

- The lore of the game is amazing if any of you are into that.

- The world feels amazing to explore and nothing is really cut off. This game is very open to speedrunning because you can really go anywhere from the beginning of the game.

- THE SOUNDTRACK IS SO GOOD ESPECIALLY ON THE GRIMM TROUPE DLC!

- The "Final Boss" is honestly such an amazing and emotional fight. I won't mention it by name due to spoilers but it technically isn't the last one.

- The Pantheon is the perfect endgame challenge.

- The game has a ton of secrets.

Cons:

- I feel that some fights should have a bench located much closer to the boss so you can get back to it faster when you die.

Tips:

- Make sure before attempting the Pantheon in Godhome you are fully prepared with good charms, nail upgrades, and morale... you're gonna need it.

- Do not rush through the areas. There are secrets literally everywhere.

- Try your best to figure things out without google on your first time. It feels so much more rewarding.

- My favorite charm combo was Sharp Shadow, Unbreakable Strength, Mark of Pride, and Quick Slash. This build was optimized for my Nail as I don't use spells often.

- Buy Wayward Compass in Dirtmouth ASAP on your first playthrough as it will help a ton.

Closing Thoughts:

Buy this game you will probably love it.

TLDR:

I only have good things to say about Hollow Knight. Team Cherry literally checked off every box for a perfect game. I was able to get all achievements through about 121 hours of gameplay and I don't regret any of it. The platforming feels phenomenal and I absolutely love the combat. Making it so you can get all endings on a single save file was an amazing idea for saving people some time. Steel Soul mode was probably some of the most fun I have ever had in a video game and the experience will stick with me for a while. Buy Hollow Knight :D
