-rep Polly came over one night to play CS:GO, and things started off like usual. But then, during a match, he began mocking one of our opponents—making fun of his accent and throwing out offensive comments about his background.

“Figures, he’s probably some guy from a different country who can’t even speak English right,” Ben said with a smirk. “I hate dirty Indians.”

I paused, feeling uncomfortable. “Polly, that’s not cool.”

He just shrugged. “Come on, it’s just a joke.”

But it wasn’t funny. It was rude and hurtful. I told him to leave. “I can’t hang out with you if you’re going to act like that.”

The next day, I messaged him to say I couldn’t continue the friendship. He apologized, but I knew that his words were a reflection of deeper beliefs, and I couldn’t ignore that.
