Over rated and released at the best time possible where the only options for multiplayer shooter games are Call of Duty 21, Battlefield 67, or early access cheater world games.

I don't know, you have to really like it to enjoy it. Heavily dependent on rng so a large portion of your runs will be lost from the start and you won't even know it til certain enemies start to spawn that you can't fend off for long, and you realize you just weren't given the best options for upgrades and the items you found aren't big enough starter boosts. Basically if you aren't godlike snowballing out of control within the first five minutes, you best forget trying to compete for the leaderboards. Play for fun, okay but again you are just hitting the slot machines to see if you can get strong enough fast enough AND build for an adequate late game so you don't die halfway through tier 2. Balance issues and QoL stuff needs some work and I'm sure it will get it, like refresh being an actual refresh, and skip and banish options not being so lame.

If you're into spooky and apocalyptic stories that are mostly vague and don't have much of anything interesting going on then maybe you will like this game. Personally, the vibe is about all this game has going for me. The supposed choices don't really seem to matter, it's more along the lines of trying to check boxes to get to the various endings. I wasn't in suspense at any time, I didn't really care about any of the characters because their stories are lame and most of them hardly even said anything of substance. Didn't care if they were human or not because the check system is... lacking. You can only check so many times a day and there are multiple checks per person that could just be false positives, so it seems like the right move is to just not let that many people in until they start getting taken away.

I don't know man, the more I think about how this game operates the less I want to play it.

Yeah it's a lot easier to play this than it is to try and get the originals working on an original PS1 but man is this game not good. The hitboxes for many of the platforms and enemies are so whack. The tentacle bots are some of the worst offenders, and then there are little invisible lips on multiple levels you shouldn't be able to land on as well. Or the water levels where I jump into the water when it looked like I should have easily cleared it. Although I'm not sure how much is to blame on the camera angles, which sometimes just bug out and zoom in way too close. Or are just in a bad position from the get go, this game feels like 2 guys play tested it once and thought it would be good enough to sell because who the hell even plays platformers now a days they are only trying to bank on the nostalgia. And on my final note you didn't need to remix the music so you can't even get the real nostalgia if you were into that sort of stuff.

They said "Hey what if we make surroundead but with co-op/pvp before they do it?"

And then the players said, "This is very generic."

And then the devs said, "..."
Because they abandoned the game.

This game is a joke. All the evidence you need is the last three trailers that have released and you will understand exactly what this game is. One big joke. It's advertised as a realistic survival game, but it's not even close to being realistic, and the survival part is a stretch when you consider how easy it is to find food, and you can just drink whatever water you want wherever you see it. Even ocean water, just watch out for the 'food repulsion' bar and you will suffer zero negative consequences from drinking sea water. Even then the worst thing that can happen is you throw up. The game loves to boast some kind of depth with its metabolism system, but take for example when I drink that sea water. I can go to the sodium bar and see that there are lethal amounts of sodium coursing through my body, but that doesn't actually have an effect on my character. All those vitamin and mineral bars are purely cosmetic. The only thing that matters is you have protein in you so you don't lose any strength stat.

That isn't all, the whole game just doesn't work well. When you can just choose what sector you want to spawn into it makes pvp really dumb. I kill a guy and less than three minutes later he is back at his corpse coming at me with a machete he spawns with cuz he bought a DLC. Building a base is really not worth it when you consider how much less work it is to break into one versus building a secure compound. Because the respawn/lockpicking/explosive damage/base defense mechanics are hair-brained and half-baked it makes base raiding heavily favor the attacker.

Then we talk about the pve and it's like what is there that you really do? You explore the world with the same copy paste buildings and bunkers, to get trivial scraps of loot and for what? To store it away until the devs/server owners decide to wipe it all. There is no end game content, you just jack around building a base or playing Bear Grylls with a gun until you get bored and play something else.

Then we talk about all the planned content that will never make it into this game. Deadly weather events, mutated animals/hit squads sent against certain players/story missions/escaping the island/weight lifting equipment. I mean it has been years people have been asking for such a simple thing like removing ALL the nails/bolts/bobby pins from boxes. But even with 1.0 you still have to take them out 1 by 1. Do the devs just hate their player base or are they so incompetent they can't do something so small? I don't really care about the answer anymore, I'm just done with the game.

Pretty straight forward stuff. You give money they give you stuff in game ONE time per wipe. Not really pay to win because it doesn't really help you not lose it all in less than 3 seconds to someone hiding in a bush you had no way of seeing. I believe in the future of this game so I believe in supporting the devs for now with stuff like this.

It's getting better with every update.

It's boring and has absolutely nothing redeeming about it. Thought that whole start a new universe thing with it being altered from your doings in the previous universe would have been cool, but it's just really nothing special.

Very cringe. Very soulless. Glad I only spent 2 bucks on it.
