Looking at this completely umnerited review-bombing BS compelled me to finally write a review:

First of all: do I miss the old UI?
Of course: I've been used to the old being relatively unchanged for about 7 years now.
Do I have issues with the new UI? Sure.
But a) nothing major or even remotely game-breaking and b) I can see how the old UI was probably even harder to navigate with a controller and understand the desire for a unified UI across all platforms.

But here is the thing: I also do have confidence that there will be further patches/changes to adress some legitimate concerns in the future. Not to mention getting used to the new UI ...

As for the game itself: still one of if not the best in terms of overall atmosphere including graphic and sound design which is why I have constantly been recommending the game to friends for all the almost 7 years I have been playing the game on and off. The unique creatures combined with the cinematic vision of the overall setting, the lighting (golden hour ftw + anyone remember the old teal hollywood-thunderstorms?) and how the excellent and unique sound-design ties into the gameplay is still pretty much unrivaled to this day imho.

That being said: I sometimes miss the early days' gameplay when pretty much everyone was sneaking a lot more until the actual "showdown" in and around the boss compound was inevitable and run'n'gun was the exception. Still enjoy the game on my own terms and respect that different people might have very different on how to approach the game. And that's one of the other main positives: Crytek imho has done a great job over the years of giving in to popular demand for certain features without upending the balancing and pretty much staying true to the overall theme and gameplay concept.

In terms of performance I am actually pleasantly surprised with the update so far since I'm currently running a mostly 5 year old rig with an i7 7700K and a 2080Ti (that's also about 4 years old now) and can still run the game at 1440p with decent FPS in the 70-80+ range at the low end and around 120ish in "quieter" areas. Granted: It's somewhat of a large overfall FPS range and I haven't played the new update too intensively, so I might have just been lucky.

Overall I'd still blindly recommend the game to anyone even remotely interested in the genre ... or you could listen to people not being able to handle a UI change in the main menu that doesn't affect gameplay at the slightest.
