Damn. I've put a lot of hours into this one, and never gotten to a second loop. The first achievement you get is to die.

Nuclear Throne pulls no punches. You can be doing your best run ever with full health, eviscerating freaks with an energy sword and blood cannon, and have it all over in a tenth of a second. With perfect timing and reflexes built up, and a little luck, you can make it through a stage. This game is faster than many roguelikes, and it feels so good to mow down waves of enemies if you want to let off some steam. The excellent music helps to time your slashes and shots. The customization centers around characters, weapons and mutations. Each character has a different feel to them while retaining the original vibe. The weapons give a satisfying thud, and you can feel the recoil through your character. When you have power, it becomes a part of your playstyle. The mutations change your playstyle significantly, and your choices are never obvious; some mutations synergize better with some characters, and with other mutations as well. I often find myself choosing between an incredible ability to massacre enemies, spewing corpses across the level, or a safer route for health and safety. Either way, I feel more ready for the next terrifying dance across the post-apocalyptic landscape. If you are into roguelikes, and you feel like a challenge, pick this one up at a steam sale, or, if you are into it, it is a steal at $15.

For me, a single player game has to be REALLY good to play it all the way through. I was given this game as a gift, and I thought I would enjoy it then stop caring much. In reality, I found myself unable to stop for WEEKS. It really doesn't matter what I'm doing, I'm having fun. Though some aspects... uh... ok, I can't find anything that I dislike about this game. Plus, if anything, the DLCs are even more cost-efficient than the original game, so I would reccomend the Ultimate Edition.

TLDR: GET THIS GAME. IT WILL BE WORTH IT.
