I overall enjoyed the game, but there are a few things keeping it from being really good.

-the map- it just frustrated me more than anything and after wandering around a certain area trying to find that 1 unexplored bit, I gave up because I felt like I was going the wrong way.

-the backtracking- it was ok at first but became tiresome pretty quick. If there were a shortcut to unlock that looped around from the end of the area to the beginning, that would have been great.

-customization- there is cosmetic stuff you can collect but nothing that changes the characters stats or affects the game in any way. I feel like the devs missed the mark on this. I quit caring about the lightsaber parts and ponchos about half-way through the game.

-cutscenes- the opening and the cutscenes aren't skippable. It may just be my machine but this game takes FOREVER to start and there's no way to just skip to the startup options. I'd launch the game and do something else for a few minutes because sitting there staring at the opening screen was really annoying.

I don't want to be a negative nelly because I DID enjoy the game. Would recommend as a lighter, easier Sekiro game.

Suddenly I have to download yet another launcher and must be always online in order to play. I don't mess with the multiplayer, EVER, and yet now I have to be online, all the time? Nice to know that if my internet ever goes out, or if I'm ever deployed in the military, I can't play a Rockstar game.

Rockstar just lost a customer. Many, many other great games out there that don't require this garbage.

Trying to get into it. Very slow at first and not really sure how to go about progressing. It's very atmospheric though and I know I'll have a good time with it once I get in the groove.

I bought this game after hearing about it on the Co-Optional Podcast. I really dig picross puzzles and eat these things up pretty quick. I've done about 25 of the puzzles so far, of the regular mode. I haven't done any of the other mode yet.

So far, the game isn't that great. Paint It Back is better. The way you fill in the puzzle, the game automatically colors it as you go along, making it somewhat confusing sometimes as to what you've done and what's left to do. The music is dumb, I turned it off pretty quick. There aren't any settings to turn the puzzles to a black and white color scheme rather than color, which would have been much better. Every few puzzles there's an annoying pop-up begging you to sign up for a newsletter. After a few "maybe laters" I put in a fake email address to make it quit coming back up again and again.

If it was a couple of dollars I'd buy it. I wouldn't buy it at its current price point though.

All in all a good game. Took me just over 20 hours to complete, doing most of the side stuff but not all of it. The game seemed to know when it was about to outstay its welcome and ended nicely, leaving room for another sequel. There's lots and lots of side stuff to do and things to collect, if that's your thing. I got to the point that I felt pretty much invincible and quit doing the side missions because why bother? The combat was ok but I would have appreciated more puzzles. My favorite part of the game by far were the optional tombs.

I have a gamaing laptop, MSI GT72 (i7 mobile CPU, 980M GPU) and it ran higher than 30 FPS on the highest graphical settings. There were points where framerate dipped below 30 but it seemed to be only cutscenes. Most of the time it ran 40-60 FPS with my fan going full speed the whole time.

All at once super frustrating and utterly satisfying. My only complaint is that it's way too linear. One of the things I liked about the first Dark Souls is that you could approach it in several different ways.

I've put about 8 hours into this game, I'd say I'm just about to finish it. It's super cute, the soundtrack is great, and it's challenging. Well worth 5 dollars. The dialogue is humorous, and the art style is cutesy but not over the top. The control is tight and the combat is satisfying. If I had a gripe, it's that the game relies too heavily on the underground "dark everywhere but right in front of your face" mechanic. That got irritating after a while.

If you like retro platformers in the style of Metroid, give this game a go.

If you like the old Picross games, Paint It Back is right up your alley.
