This game to me feels closer to a call of duty game wearing a battlefield skin suit. It's fun if that's what you're looking for and it has enjoyable moments but I'm getting a little fatigued with every modern AAA shooter feeling nearly indistinguishable from each other.

This could have just not been made and everyone would be better for it.

Early Access Review
I think this game has a ton of potential and I have to say after about 10 or so hours I really enjoy the bones. For a very early access title I think this brings some good core ideas to the table and checks a lot of the boxes that make a good extraction shooter gameplay loop.

Now that being said, I think there are some low hanging fruit here that if addressed would be a substantial benefit to the player experience based on mine and the reported experiences of others. The list below I believe starts with the "easier" to fix and gets harder (or maybe I'm way off. It's not my code lol)

1 - Despawning loot - In a game that presents the player as an opportunistic scavenger, having a despawn timer on the loot that I am trying to creep towards demotivates and de-incentivizes the slow and cautious approach, rewarding more aggressive and fast looting instead

2 - Enemy spawns - The ability for enemies of whichever faction to simply blink into existence nearly on top of you is not so much challenging as it is frustrating. A careful and measured approach to the loot can be completely undermined by a unit pack spawning directly on top of you, ending your run very quickly.

3 - Enemy Pathing - The routes that the enemies take when out of combat are very tight and somewhat erratic. It's not uncommon for a squad to move out of an area only to immediately 180 and sprint directly back into it. Additionally their tendency to stick in place creates issues for the more cautious, scav oriented approach especially at extractions where you are often forced to engage in challenging combat in order to escape.

4 - Terrain hit boxes - This is a tough one and a bit of an outlier to the "low hanging fruit" theme I think. With how intricate and varied the terrain is, I don't know that there is an immediately available fix to this aside from maybe tweaking the collision boxes on the character. (perhaps even in the short term. I think the community would stomach some clipping in EA vs getting stuck on everything...) The frustration that comes from your run coming to an end because you got stuck on a 6 inch high piece of debris is immense and totally kills immersion

All-in-all I recommend this game. Maybe not in its current state if you are tight on funds or can't stomach the bugs that are front and centre at this point, but there are some really good bones here and one of the more compelling and interesting worlds I've seen in a game in a very long time.

As the game comes towards its one year anniversary, I really hope to see some stronger progress towards the bugs that appear to be holding this game back.
