UPDATE: Ok, fair is fair. They fixed it. Mostly. The game has come a long way in terms for overall stability and content across the board. The base game is about where it should have been at the end of year 1 (this update is Nov 2023). That's still a lot of lost ground, but it's genuinely good progress. Haven't hit DLC, so I'll reserve judgement. CDPR really did do right by this update, but they won't be rejoining Larian on the Day 1 purchase list.

I waited a good, long while before posting a review to give myself some time to get into the game. In its current state, Cyberpunk is an excellent early access game, but I simply cannot recommend it as a full release game... for now. It has a lot of promise, but is sadly very hollow.

CDPR has a history of correcting release issues, so I am optimistic, but at this point the game is simply not worth the asking price.

Very impressed by the devs handling of the recent EULA controversy, and very impressed by the game they built.

Early Access Review
Picked this up about a year ago, and really enjoyed it for a while. Obviously, being in the early development stages, it only went so far. At the time, there were still plenty of bugs and features waiting to be active. No worries, I figured. The devs are still pretty active, so I'll just put it on the shelf and pick it back up in a few months once the devs have had a chance to polish it up some. I mean, that's what Early Access is all about, right?

Now, almost a year later, many of the same bugs are still present, and features that have been advertised as "right around the corner" are still mysteriously absent. This week, we figured out why. Instead of devoting time to finish up the game that people have already paid for, Studio Wildcard has been busy working on a paid expansion for a game that is still nowhere near done.

Do what you want, but if I thought I stood half a chance, I'd ask Valve for my money back. Asking players to pay for additional content before you've even finished the core game is 100% ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
