One of the best adventure games of all time. Fun characters to spend time with, and the puzzles aren't too obtuse. Double click on the maps to avoid walking around (still a criticism all these years later, thanks devs for making quality of life improvements).

This is a very immersive game, playing great if you stick to the objectives or play to mess about in Africa.

If you get stuck, here's some things that I used to quickly get through potentially frustrating things.

-Doing the B version of missions, the buddy option, upgrades your save huts. Do them until you get a car with a machine gun on the roof. Don't do the B missions after for speed.
-When you know a checkpoint is coming check the map to see what direction you want to go and then drive straight through the checkpoints without stopping, no fighting. They will follow you a lot but not always. Drive some ways away and get on the mounted gun and mow them down from a distance.
-Shut off your headlights at night. It took me a while to know this was possible.
-Don't do any malaria runs until your last pill is gone. When you have none left your next mission is for pills. It didn't really cause me much bother.
-Don't hunt for diamonds. Pick your weapons ahead of time and mission rewards will give you enough payment for the main guns you need and then some extra.
-Bases that aren't part of missions will be later, so don't bother clearing them until the game directs you to.

Doing these things, I played a mainline run through FC2 in 16 hours. If you are enjoying yourself, hunting for diamonds is pretty fun and you can earn all the guns to try different play-styles. The B version of missions lets you see more of the forts and bases in the world, so if you want more places to explore while moving the story forward take those options.

This is a game you play while your character is waiting to play a game of their own. Made up of meta-humor, it constantly refers to the upcoming game like an amusement park ride that is being ridden by another person when you arrive. It's hard not to be left wanting at the end, but it's short and free. Have a few laughs.
