As a big fan of early 00s SEGA games, this fits right in. The overall aesthetic, the menus, the art style are all reminiscent of the era.

Gameplay is smooth and has responsive particles and retro sounds to keep you on the combo. Levels are full of stuff to do and make you want to try again and again to unlock new levels and skins.

The standout part of this game though is the soundtrack. I found myself just idly hovering around just jamming out to the music. Unlocking new levels unlocks new music and is worth it just for that reason alone!

Just finished the game. Completed around 80% of the collections in around 3 hours.

Short, cutesy fishing expedition with a lot of variety and a smooth experience. Plenty of space for more as well.

Just finished the main story and I am really impressed. I received a key at the launch party and have been playing it for some time.

There is much more content than that to offer through side missions and time trials, stunt jumps and finding stashes. The game doesn't fail to give you things to do or ways to have fun. The core gameplay is super responsive, with driving feeling really tight and very reminiscent of comic action games such as GTA: Chinatown Wars and even Saints Row. The graphics of the game blend comic and realism in a way that looks very aesthetically pleasing using sharp edges, lens flares and bright colours, with a clean, fluid UI to boot.

The world destruction feels really rewarding as you smash your way through the walls, fences, bushes and cars in your way as you escape the police or chase down a mission target. The character upgrades build on this by enabling the player to increase their strength, stamina or luck through spending the upgrade points earned in the story and side missions.

The gun play is really punchy and gunshots really feel like they land, as NPCs fully rag-doll when injured or are hit hard, adding to the fun physics nature of the game. There is a real selection of guns to choose from and suit most types of players.

The extra sequences in certain missions break up the action with fun little mechanics such as the magnetic cranes and other specialty vehicles further into the story. I had a lot of fun in the dock section of the game with the vehicle there, also.

The burglary system I found interesting in that I had not expected it, the 'puzzles' themselves within the buildings also felt very rewarding when solved. Some are not so obvious as others and having a eureka moment on a harder puzzle and getting the stash had it's own victory.

Some missions in the second area felt slightly prolonged as there was some driving to and fro, but given the nature of the vehicles driven this sometimes provided a challenge or experience in itself, the police are very immediate to respond to hit and runs and some vehicles have unique controls, handling or driving styles.

Other than some quality of life fixes in regards to objective markers and some on-boarding as to the more niche features, I think this game nails the target of which it set out for and is extremely polished-- I only saw a couple of small cosmetic glitches in the whole playthrough.

Props to the developers for setting the bar.
