One of my favourite games, only better? Yes, please! I'm not far in—not even to the proving yet—because I've been messing with settings and such.

So far? I'm nothing but pleased. Having FSR 3 is huge. I've just got an RX 6600, but with FSR on Quality and frame generation enabled, I can run at a smooth 1080p 60 fps with all the settings maxed. Of course, there's going to be a bit of jankiness here and there from the upscaling, but it looks good overall, and I don't have to fight to try and eke out 60 fps at decent settings.

Edit {
After playing more, I ran into fps issues. Turning off VSync and adjusting scanline sync in RivaTuner seemed to do the trick. From time to time, I have to adjust the value after the game starts up. No idea why, but it's an easy fix. The map isn't completely smooth even with this when frame gen is on, but it helps a lot. If using frame gen, also be sure to turn the vignette off.

With that, it has run surprisingly smooth and looks far better than I would have thought when using both upscaling and frame gen. Obviously, it would be nice to not have to rely on those, but my poor little 6600 just isn't up to the task otherwise.

As for the other improvements… I'm satisfied with everything I've seen. Lots of new, useful settings. Gameplay feels smoother—probably the animation changes. The increased texture detail is nice, especially for screenshots. I'm sure there will be more as I get further into the game, but based off everything so far, I expect it will all be good.

I get where people who think it's too soon for a remaster are coming from, but I don't really agree. The improvements are extensive. It has been seven years. And they aren't charging that much. If it was a cash grab, then they kind of botched the part where they gouge on the price. They are even leaving the original up. I really dislike when a new edition of a game comes out, and the old one is removed. Just bundle them together and make it clear that the old version isn't going to get support anymore. So, points for that.

But no, it feels like they have done this right, pretty much across the board. One thing that could be a negative is the PSN connection. I personally don't mind it. I linked my account, but it looks like you can skip it. Though to be clear, I haven't tried that. I just remember seeing a "skip" option. An option in the launcher that disables the entire linking system and makes that clear to the user would be nice for those who are concerned with that kind of thing.

Wall running, terrain deformation, and lakes of lava! What more can you ask for?

Overall a fun, albeit somewhat short game. Has modding support, and some user created levels are available from the official website. In my opinion, worth the price.

Well made and very entertaining. Has some of the best humor I've ever seen in a game. If you've ever wanted to beat up mimes, clowns, citrus obsessed robots, or the homeless... this is your game!
